We didn't do the whole trail, we veered to the left and just did a short spur, took us about 2 hours or so for the return trip. The trail took us through a cool, shaded forest with a creek through the middle. At the end of the spur the lookout of Lofquist Lake was beautiful. We too our 7 and 9 year old and they had fun. The 7 year old was a bit tired midway through though. I like the location of this one because it is just a short drive out of Nipigon. As well, the Lofquist Lake public beach is close by, so you can go take a swim after a long hot hike!
