This property is like going back in time....to the 70's. The decor has not been changed since. The rooms are spotless clean though and the view is unparalleled for sunsets. Great value for the money and the rooms are Suites with kitchen. I do not recommend the cottages. They are small, dated cabins.

Room Tip: Pick a Suite not a Cottage. Upper floor is better.

Rustic and simple rooms. Very clean with a great view. Relaxing, just like we wanted. There was no food services available but we knew this before arriving. Close to downtown and the local beach. Plan to return for a longer stay.

Room Tip: Stayed there during a quiet weekend on the off season so it was quiet.

Since there are no current reviews, here's mine. I have been coming back to the Bluewater every year for at least the last 5 years. Sometimes a week, sometimes only a few days. I always get one of the cottages. Might be older, but I call that rustic! What is important to me is that it is very clean, affordable and is more like a cross between a cottage and a motel because even in the cottages, you can have your towels replaced daily. Barb is excellent and this year, she even called me when there was a cancellation to see if I'd like to increase my stay for another day. What an excellent location too and of course perfect sunsets. I head up there for 3 nights in a couple of days. Can hardly wait.

Room Tip: Fireplace cottages the best. A little bit larger than the other cottages with full kitchen. All co...

I saw this review in TA and wondered if Bluewater was still operating as the review was a little old. After an email and some internet investigation I can confirm that they are indeed still operating.

What a fantastic location for watching the sun set over Lake Huron. Whilst the decoration and furniture is in need of updating I can say that this in no way detracts from the view which is why you really want to stay here.

Barbara was great and we encountered no problems at all.

Pictures of the exterior and views to follow.

We were located on the ground floor but there are apartments available on the first and second floors which should give even better views of the Lake.

Found the Bluewater in Southampton on-line and got a reservation for Labor Day weekend. What a great little find, right on the beach of Lake Huron. We had a small cottage that was older, but clean and cozy. There were four cottages and a motel with about 6 or 8 units. The Bluewater is within walking distance of many restaurants and shops in Southampton. The Suttons have owned the Bluewater for over 20 years, and we were warmly welcomed by the them and the returning guests, treated like old friends. They apparently have a tradition of a cookout and bonfire on the beach over Labor Day weekend to which we were invited, and had a great time meeting all the other guests (one of which has been coming there for 17 years!). We hope to return again next year to this great hideaway.
NOTE: Don't miss the sunset over Lake Huron - everyone comes out for it, and it is lovely.
