The Newsroom Suites offers fabulous accommodations unlike anything else in Prince Edward County. The rooms are modern, clean, comfortable, and have tonnes of character. They are full of hidden surprises. You'll find a warm blanket by your feet in the den to cuddle under while watching movies, and a pair of Egyptian cotton beach towels in the bedroom closet for a trip to the nearby sand dunes. The kitchenette is large and fully stocked. The bathroom is full of beautiful stone and high-end fixtures. The decor is modern and tasteful and you don't feel like you’re staying over at Grandma's, which is the last thing we wanted. The suites are above a working newsroom and not in the owner's home, which means you have the place to yourself after business hours. It makes a world of difference when you don't have to worry about noise levels or share the t.v. room with the proprietor, things that are par for the course at most B&Bs. If we find ourselves back in Prince Edward County, the Newsroom Suites will be our first choice for accommodation.

We stayed at the Newsroom Suites while attending a family wedding in Wellington. The Suites (there are two) are just beautiful, and Kathleen and Rick have thought of every detail--down to the french press and coffee grinder. The suites are very spacious, with two televisions and dvd players, comfortable beds, kitchenette, and friendly hosts who are just a phone call away if anything is needed. The location is quite convenient, right next to the grocery store, and walking distance to local restaurants, galleries, and shops. The lake is just a couple of blocks away, a really spectacular place to watch the sun set. We loved the Newsroom Suites and wished we could stay longer!

Room Tip: There are only two suites available, so book early.

First, Wellington: this town is a great hub for any trip to PEC, especially those seeking wine. Many wineries are within a few minutes' drive (including two of our favourites, Norman Hardie and Keint-He, as well as Casa-Dea, Rosehall Run, Sandbanks and others), the lake shore is just down the hill and Bloomfield is only a few minutes away.

Second, the location: atop a working local newspaper room and sitting right on Main Street, literally across the street from East & Main (consensus pick for best restaurant in the area), next door to a grocery store and near lots of small shops and the excellent Tall Poppy Cafe. Parking is free, and right in front of the building.

Third, the suite itself: not your average tiny B&B room. The suite we were in (I'm not sure whether there's more than one?) was four rooms: a large bedroom; a den with couch, desk, TV and DVD; a kitchenette stocked with dishes, utensils, glasses and corkscrews, not to mention bar fridge, microwave and coffee maker; and a large bathroom with tub, shower and double sink. This was less a hotel room and more a decent-sized apartment, and nicely decorated too...old typewriters and Canadian literate were nice touches given the nature of the building.

I'd highly recommend staying here...spacious and comfortable suite, great location and a nice alternative to the same old flowery preciousness of all the other B&Bs in the area. Only slightly weird thing was that when business hours end at the office downstairs there's no one left in the building. However, the manager's only a phone call away, and frankly it's nice not to worry about making noise when coming home late or turning on the TV too early in the morning the way you do in a typical B&B.
