“Great weekend at brackley beach”
Reviewed 15 August 2014 via mobile

Spent two nights with my wife. Perfect little break close to home. It's very close to Brackley beach, one of my favourite beaches on PEI(less than 2 minutes from the hotel). Rooms were great and the staff was very helpful wherever we were on the property.

Stayed July 2014, travelled as a couple

This was a lovely place to stay - definitely not a typical chain but that added to the charm - after all you are in PEI. It was a traditionally decorated inn with some modern touches like an outdoor hot tub and an indoor pool, which we did not use. There was a nice walking path and a play area for children set against a field and open land setting. I was half expecting Ann of Green Gables to come skipping down the path :-). We were skeptical upon arrival but pleasantly surprised when we used our old fashion key to get into a clean, fairly modern and spacious room. The staff were very friendly as were all the folks we met while on the island. The motel was clean and comfortable and I loved the rocking chairs on the porch outside of the office - such an island touch... we loved our visit...

We happened upon this place at the end of a long day of driving and exploring and needed a place to stay. We needed handicap facilities and those available were pricy. We ended up with a suite which was comfortable in the amount of space. The bed was certainly not special or comfortable. The noise from the people upstairs who had a child running was so bad we almost had to ask to be moved. There is not adequate insulation or whatever between the floors For some reason the next morning the circuit breaker had tripped so we had difficulty trying to make coffee. This experience was just OK for the money we spent.

Thank you to the Management and staff for a great experience! My bf and I just spent the last couple of days here in Rm 402 and we too were pleasantly surprised! The staff were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Our room was clean and very spacious...love having space to move around and heat pumps!! We love white noise...in fact neither of us can sleep without it! The dining area was also very clean and we loved how 'down to earth' the staff were...just like being home. Loved the outdoor walking trail and the concept of the green gym - what a great use of space and love the concept!! We also loved the indoor gym and unfortunately did not have time to enjoy the pool or hot tub.

We were surprised to find the small adjacent restaurant (The Lobster Claw) closed at 8pm on Sunday but alas, everyone needs a day of rest...just surprised that during peak tourism season and a long weekend that this would be the case. If we had known about the bbqs we would have planned a little better...great idea to have these!! However, as a result of the early closure, we discovered the Dunes Gallery and Cafe Restaurant! Magnificent place and fabulous food despite the mosquitoes trying to carry me away!

A few other suggestions, maybe a few extra pillows and the wifi seemed a bit weak but we were suppose to be relaxing and unplugging so I was ok with that! ;)

Thanks everyone! We will definitely stay again!

Room Tip: Ask for extra pillows, maybe plan to bring some food as they do have bbqs

After reading the reviews and seeing the pics prior to our recent 2-night stay, I have to say that these accommodations exceeded our expectations. Staff were friendly and courteous and the room was absolutely spotless! To be honest, I expected the room to be out of date and to hear noise from other guests, but I was gladly mistaken. Each room (as far as I could tell) is equipped with it's own heat pump (A/C being a must) and nicely outfitted with ceramic tile in the entryway and bathroom. We were given a junior executive suite with a jacuzzi, however we had no use for it. The only drawback I would have to say would be the breakfast; a pretty limited selection of cereal (raisin bran, corn flakes and third I forget) and breads/bagels. The breakfast area was overcrowded at 7am since there was a bus tour staying there, so wait until after 730 to head down. Oh yes, there aren't any disposable cups for coffee and starbucks is about a half hour away, coffee junkies should plan accordingly.

Room Tip: Wait until the bus tours clear out before going for breakfast

Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay, but disappointed to hear you did not enjoy our complimentary breakfast. We try to provide our guests with a good start to their day with hot and cold cereals, breads and bagels, eggs boiled fresh each morning, home made yogurt, fruit salad, and muffins/biscuits/cinnamon rolls baked from scratch daily.

North Winds - Brackley Beach

Room 103
This hotel was a two night stop on the Caravan Nova Scotia tour for us.

Our room was a suite with the main room containing a kitchen, full bed, and couch. The second bed room also contained a full bed but had no air conditioning of its own and was therefore stuffy. In the main room the heater/air conditioning unit would make a loud humming sound every couple of minutes, which according to the management is normal.

The hotel is next to the national park and has a bike trail and bikes for rent, plus park passes that can be borrowed and a nice indoor pool.

To summarize, I will call our room rustic, and dated. Other tour members stayed in a different building and had much better accommodations.

Would I stay there again, maybe, but only if I could get a room in one of the newer buildings.

I would rated the room and hotel as quiet if it wasn't for the noisy air conditioning.

Sorry you did not enjoy your stay. The air conditioners, which we just had installed in 2013, in the housekeeping suites have to pump the water quite a distance, and therefore somewhat noisy. It is on our "to do" list during the winter season to hopefully come up with a better solution.

My wife and I, along with our toddler just spent 6 relaxing nights, we loved every minute in our clean spacious room, for the first time ever we were comfortable letting our toddler play all over. We loved the fact that we had a fridge and stove in our room which made it easier to prepare small meals with ease, that saved us on dining out everyday. Our daughter didn't take long to get used to her environment she loved the kids play area with the slides and swings. We tried the indoor pool it was wonderful we had the pool to ourselves for the evening. The Inn is located in a good area because we wanted to experience as many attractions and it was a fairly decent drive to where ever we planned to go. We got to visit at least four beaches with relative ease. We loved the breakfast especially the freshly baked pastries. I look forward to returning, because of the this Inn we got the true Island experience, I will recommend this place to any one who will ask me about what the highlight of my summer was.
