We decided to go to PEI for our 50th anniversary. Bay Vista room 32 was far beyond our expectations !! The room was amazing, wifi fantastic, just everything was great . The breakfast was quite fine for us. We have told so many people if they ever get to PEI to stay there .

We stayed at Bay Vista for 2 nights in early June while touring PEI on a golf vacation. The room was large and comfortable and we paid off season price so got an excellent rate. Continental breakfast was ok - toast and cereal only. The wi-fi did not work. Great location. We would stay at Bay Vista again.

We spent 3 days at the Bay Vista Motel and enjoyed every minute. The staff is very professional and helpful. Arnold one of the owners, is a local historian and knows just about anything you would want to know about the area. Breakfast was very good and served with a friendly smile and in a enjoyable atmosphere. would recommend this motel to any one traveling to the area.

Our room was cozy and clean and we rested very well. It was a king sized bed with plenty of room to move around...and we appreciated the couch and living room atmosphere though it was obviously a bedroom. Even more so, we enjoyed talking with Arnold, the owner, as he prepared a nourishing breakfast for us. He is a long time resident of the island and shared the history of his own heritage as well as how much he and his family love the island...their home. Arnold's home has been restored and it is obvious the pride he takes in whatever it is that he is striving to accomplish.

Room Tip: Our room was behind the office area, was quite for sure.

We stayed at the Bay Vista MOTEL (not the cottages) for three days in July 2013. We enjoyed our stay there and it fit our needs quite well. It is very close to everything in Cavendish (about 3 minutes drive to the beach). They do have beach passes which they give out on a first-come, first-served basis which was much appreciated (and saved some $$).

The grounds are well kept, with a nice playground area out on the lawn which you can see from the rooms, although it is probably 100m away. They have some toys and games to play with too, such as all sorts of balls, a tether ball, and boomerangs. BBQs are there if guests want to use them. There is also a pool, which we ended up not using because we were so busy with other things.

They have a continental breakfast. We are not huge breakfast eaters, and it suited us just fine. There was a fruit salad, bagels, different kinds of breads and cereals, coffee, juice etc. If you need a big breakfast in the morning, this probably won't do it for you. One criticism of the breakfast is that it is in a small room with not enough tables. Some people had to eat standing up or wait, and while that didn't happen to us, we felt a bit rushed to finish to let other people sit down. This didn't happen to too many people and isn't a huge negative, but they could use a few more tables.

The room was fine for us (two adults and a five year-old). The room was clean. However, a longer stay would have started getting a bit crowded. The room we were in was quite small, and the storage space was limited, so you are basically living out of the suitcase. We didn't mind this for a few days, but it would have been rough beyond that. I wouldn't recommend the room I was in for more than three people. They do have a small fridge in the room, which is very handy.

We didn't appreciate our chain smoking neighbour, so they may want to consider banning smoking on the veranda area.

The price of the hotel was $112/night when we were there. I did quite a bit of research before booking and doubt there is a much better deal than that in Cavendish at that time of year. Despite some of the minor negative items mentioned above, overall we were very satisfied and loved our stay. I would recommend the hotel (or at least the room we had) for a small family like mine, but not for any family with four or more people.

Being a traveller with a penchant for thrift, I was attracted to this property because it was a 2013 Trip Advisor Bargain Choice Award Winner. I love going to PEI - I just find that everything is overpriced - especially the accommodations. Most of the tourist infrastructure is very dated and very expensive for what you get in return. I was not disappointed with Bay Vista.
As others have said, our room was dated but it was spotless, large and very well appointed. The bath amenities were a nice touch. The bed was extremely comfortable and obviously new ( we had one of the King rooms) We had satellite TV with a plethora of channels.
I was very impressed with the friendly staff. Their customer service skills were "Fairmont quality" and that is my standard of excellence based on my experience. They remembered my name and were more than willing to do anything they could to make the stay more comfortable. I was particularly impressed that when there was a challenge - they searched for alternative solutions rather than just saying "this is how it is sorry" ( such as the breakfast opening at 8 am rather than 7am- tough when you have a 7:50 tee off time!). I was particularly impressed with Becky - she is a gem and deserves a raise. If I owned tourist property in PEI I would hire her in a minute!
One other suggestion that again I have also read others on here suggest - please get in room coffee. Do the math - you would only have about $750 in capital costs $50 units X$15. and about $150 per week in variable expenses for a box a day (200 packages per day) + cups. I appreciate you have to control costs to be a bargain establishment but this is likely more valuable than other amenities.
You won't go wrong at Bay Vista. It is very close to Cavendish but far enough away from the tourist crowds on the main strip. Excellent value for what you pay - more in PEI could learn from these operators.

Room Tip: We had a king room - very large and quiet. Also at the back of the property - they do not face the...
