“For the Birds”
Reviewed 11 October 2013

Stayed two nights June 19th and 20th, 2013. Originally had booked for one night, but a change in schedule required two, and Glenn was very good about arranging an extended stay on relatively short notice. We had arranged with Glenn for a full day birding tour for the morning of the 20th. We arrived in the evening and were treated to drinks and fresh strawberries. The birders already in residence had returned with some amazing images, so we were looking forward to the tour the next morning (in spite of the 5:30am departure time). Jim, our guide took us out for dawn birding. Glad we had brought our bugsuits, as the mosquitoes are also up at dawn on PEI. Jim brought us back to the B & B for breakfast (great Belgian waffles). The rest of the day was spent driving from spot to spot with Jim continually apologizing for the birds being elsewhere. If this was a bad birding day, I'd love to be on a good one, as the final count for the day was 54 species.

The Northumberland Room was comfortable, quite roomy, and had a nice view of the pond below the lodge. Glenn and Joan were quite helpful and gave good recommendations for dinner locations, and for other birding locations to try the next day on the way to North Rustico. Sure enough, we found where the eagles were hiding the day before as we saw more than twenty in the National Park on the north coast. Many thanks to Glenn, Joan, and Jim for making our stay in Murray Harbour so enjoyable.

Wonderful hosts, amazing breakfasts, great room, beautifully decorated. Very clean and bright. Glen and Joan had lots of valuable information on places to visit and especially places to eat, the best.
I would rate this place 6 stars out of 5.

Room Tip: If you are a foodie, then this is the place for you!!

We visited 5 different B&B's whilst travelling the Maritimes. This lovely, secluded, peaceful bit of heaven was the absolute highlight. Joan and Glenn were born to be B&B hosts. Their attention to detail concerning running Country Charm shows in everything. The beds are comfy, the rooms are a great size - everything is very clean and bright. The food, you ask? My, the breakfasts were fantastic! Glenn is the resident breakfast chef - and he makes waking up and starting the day something wonderful. Yummy choices, hot coffee or tea, scrumptious fruit salads - everything perfect. Our group of four truly appreciated the welcoming and friendly environment. There is lots to do onsite - paddle boats, swimming, the confederation trail is just down the way for lovely walks, runs or bike rides. Bird watching is a must. Glenn and Joan have as many suggestions as you want for things to do in the Eastern area of PEI - you'll never be bored and will have as much or little as you want to do on your vacation. If we could provide an even higher rating, we would. Love, Love, Love this place. Hope to be back soon.

This is the perfect B&B for an easy relaxing trip to PEI. We stayed for 2 nights and the room was clean and beautifully decorated. Glenn and Joan are the sweetest people. They will give you recommendations on things to do, and we had great chats over breakfast. Their breakfast is AMAZING. We would come back for that alone! They have nice grounds with walking trails and a river with paddle boat/canoes. Perfect spot if you want to stay on the east side of the island and enjoy all the wonderful beaches, nature and some quiet relaxation time.

We had plenty of room for our family of three in the loft suite. Comfy bed for mom and dad, good sized sofa bed for our teenager. The ceiling fan and window fan combination kept the air circulating nicely. The grounds are beautiful, too. We spent the first afternoon in a pedal boat on the lake behind the house.

Glenn gave us fantastic recommendations for spending our time on the island. He showed us several spots on the Points East map, and every one was a winner. We felt welcome, well taken care of, and happy to be there.

The Country Charm B&B at Murray Harbour, PEI, was a nice experience before boarding an early ferry to Nova Scotia the next morning. The 20-acre property is definitely secluded, and very quiet. You could open the window and enjoy fresh air, and get a great sleep. The room was nicely furnished. Although it was summer, it was rather cold that evening, so we stayed inside the nice covered gazebo. It was like homecoming week, as most of the guests were at least originally from the Red Deer, Alberta area, and shared experiences with the same school teachers.

Glenn & Joan truly live up to their motto "A place where there are no strangers just friends we haven’t met"!! Their hospitality is beyond measure, we felt like family.... and Glenn's helpful tips on touring the island were a tremendous bonus. We wish we could have stayed longer just to enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Diane & Paul
