The buildings are beautiful..
The grounds lovely..

We stayed in a room in the main building on top floor. It was pretty. We wish it would have had a main TV in bedroom and DVD.
Tv was tiny and Outdated.
The bathroom was bedroom were nice.
Mattress only ok in comfort.
Breakfast was great.
Staff friendly although at check in a boy showed us to room. We wanted reccomendation for dinner but he didn't have much.. Not his fault.
Very nice place to say. But I marked 4 star for the room.. Being no TV or DVD in bedroom, room was dark. (but we did have lowest end room) and secondly,4 star for not being greeted by adults.
Other than that it is great.

Our stay at the Barachois Inn was the best B&B experience ever! You really feel like extended family after your stay here. The accommodations are superb, immaculate and very tasteful. The innkeeper even make a picnic lunch for us to take with us on an excursion. We bought the Romance Package and it was very thoughtfully put together. Judy, the owner, checked with us to make sure all parts of our excursions were okay. They even prepared a cheese tray for our last night at the inn. WE sat on the porch with a bottle of wine and started to miss the place before we even left. Everyone we spoke to on the property was so kind and nice. The gardens are well tended and very attractive. There is such a relaxing environment that you cannot help but leave feeling quite relaxed and rejuvenated. I will most deinitely come back and hopefully take all 4 rooms in the Macdonald house for a mini family reunion. I highly recommend this inn to anyone coming to the area. There is plenty to do within a very short driving distance or you can just relax and enjoy the ambiance. Across the street from is the first Catholic church in PEI and there is a museum and an original Acadian home - all worth investigating. Judy and Andrea can recommend a litany of great restaurants in the area. Additionally I would recommend Matthew's Carriage Rides which was fun and relaxing. The horse and buggy took us on a one hour tour and we spent some time on a sweet beach. Other stays at B&B's will have a hard time measuring up to this place!

Our recent three-night stay at the Barachois Inn was completely wonderful. The accomodations were top flight, the location perfect for experiencing the lovely countryside of PEI, and the served breakfast absolutely satisfying. Of particular note, were the proprietors, Judy & Gary MacDonald - they were gracious, welcoming and extremely knowledgeable about the island's history and offerings. If we are fortunate enough to return to this special location, there is no other place we'd consider staying.

Room Tip: MacDonald House rooms are very spacious with excellent amenities.

We couldn't actually stay here. It was outside our allotted budget. We are very tall and were worried that the double beds would have taken away from the experience. The rooms with queen beds looked amazing but out of our price range (at the end of our vacation) but they answered all our questions and were eager to please. If we ever come back they will be our first call!

The house is so crammed with knicknacks that there is no place to sit in the first floor common rooms. I would advise spending less on artwork and more on new mattresses and pillows. Other b&b's offered far more comfortable beds and settings. The "first come, first served" policy at breakfast verged on the rude, as guests were put in their place by an exasperated server. This b&b is more of a showcase than a comfortable respite for a traveller. And the walls are very thin: when the neighbouring guests used the whirlpool, we unwillingly shared in the experience. You can do better for less on the island.

If you are planning a trip to lovely Prince Edward Island, you must stay at the Barachois Inn. This wonderful inn is located in the charming village of South Rustico which is beautiful, historic and peaceful. The location is very convenient for seeing all of PEI. The inn is beautifully furnished with original artwork and antiques and is located in a lovingly landscaped setting. The hosts are very helpful and knowledgeable about their home and truly make you feel welcome. The food was excellent and served in a beautiful dining room. We really enjoyed chatting with the other guests. We had a wonderful, relaxing time and hope to return soon. I can't say enough about what a great time we had. VERY highly recommended!

Good place to stay on PEI near Ann of Green Gables attractions but not in the midst of it all. Surrounding area has some attractions. B&B has free pass to the PEI park. Very attractive furnishings and good breakfasts.
