“The Best Hotel in Eastern Township! Highly recommended!”
Reviewed 8 January 2014

I have tried numbers of hotels in Eastern Township and in my idea this hotel is the best one. We were two couples with a kid (and a puppy). We stayed in one of suites. The room was spacious and had two rooms and a big hall. Big enough for two couples. The room was clean and there was fresh apple from the local garden, bottles of water and Keurig coffee in the room with no extra charge. The breakfast and supper were awesome. The hotel is located in the middle of a farm. The kid and our companies who were from a big metropolitan in U.S. enjoyed visiting the farm and the cow cattle in the hotel property and we felt that luxury has met the farm. We got massage in the spa and we used the pool. The pool was clean and the massage therapists were very professional. What I really liked about this hotel was the staff. They were very nice and helpful. They let us to check out late (6 PM) with no extra charge.

This review is a bit painful for me to write because the individuals who work at this auberge clearly do try quite hard to take care of you. They do try to remember your name and have pleasant conversations, which made the whole thing worse because we spent a lot of time lying through our teeth about satisfactions levels, since most of the negative points were not things that any one person could've fixed for us during our stay.

The main thing I took away from our two night stay was that this establishment is super understaffed (during my visit at least). There was one person working the reception, one person working the entire restaurant, and two estheticians in the spa (likely because couples want simultaneous services). I saw no other staff members present throughout my entire trip.

The food at the restaurant was lackluster for the price, and so very excruciatingly slow, I don't just mean slow food slow, I mean 3.5 hours for a poorly timed 3 course meal slow. We waited over 1h and 15minutes for our main. This is no surprise because there was one person working 8 tables, and presumably not many more line cooks or chefs in the back. The waitress was so apologetic and we felt terrible for her, in fact most of the stay was just us feeling terrible for the people who worked there because it was clear they were working hard just to maintain the kind of service we got.

The grounds are ok, but really not much to see aside from fields. If you've literally never set foot on an open field or spent any time out in the country this could be very nice, but otherwise it's a skip.

We booked a standard room, and it was teeny tiny. The washroom had barely enough counter space for the amenities provided, with two glasses precariously perched on the edges of the sink. Our one window did look out onto a nice field however. I would suggest booking another class of room if you must stay here. The carpet in the hallways of the building our room was in looked worn and industrial, like a terrible office building we've all once worked at, and there was no real lock on the building's door, which looked like it had been kicked in at least once or twice.

We got treatments at the spa, a facial and a massage. The spa is quite a hideous place, accessible only via entering through a poorly lit basement corridor. The orientation makes no real sense, with the guest entrance approaching the reception desk from behind. Unattractive clinical products line the spartan shelves.

My partner reports that the massage was good, but the facial gave me a terrible migraine that lasted for days. Whatever products they used contained a lot of alcohol, as my skin stung for hours after the facial.

The next morning we had breakfast which was included in our package. The sausages I ordered seemed to have been deep fried along with everything else on the plate - basically something anyone would hesitate to serve, even on a lazy day at home.

I think the main problem with my stay here is that I expected something nice since there were so many (pretty much only) enthusiastic reviews. It's really just passable, like a country motel with perks that are somewhat crappily executed.

I am sorry to say that for the quality of sleep/food/spa and price you're better off just about anywhere else. This establishment needs to refocus on its strong points and get rid of all the amenities they clearly can't afford to do properly.

Kudos to the reception and restaurant staff for the kind service - if there's anything that would make me return it would be that.

We’re so sorry that you were disappointed in your stay here. We had recently experienced some major changes around the time of your visit – such as a new head waiter – and were experiencing some growing pains. While your care for the feelings of our staff is much appreciated we do wish that you had mentioned these problems, as we do feel that we could have helped (for example, the spa does have a front door that we could have directed you to).

Nevertheless, we appreciate your feedback as guest satisfaction is our top priority and we are always looking for ways to improve. In fact, we’re happy to report that many suggestions you offer have been addressed since your stay, such as new carpets, shelving in the bathrooms and a re-worked breakfast.

I do hope that you will give us another try next time you are in the area, and if you do please contact me directly.

Regards,

We had a wonderful eveninig at the Auberge. The amazing service starts when you walk in. From the receiption/check-in , to the waitress in the evening and the waiter in the morning, everyone went out of their way to be sure our stay was perfect. The food at the restaurant was delicious. We had dinner and breakfast and both were top notch!

We also treated ourselves to a massage...a must! The spa area is beautiful, and includes an indoor pool and outdoor spa and a sauna. Take the time to enjoy the spa and a nice massage, you won't regret it.

A special thank you goes to Kim. We had a meeting with her to discuss planning our wedding at the Auberge. She took the time to explain everything from A-Z, gave us a wonderful tour of the Auberge and different spaces available. She really went into detail and we never felt rushed- we had a lot of questions!

So Thank you to the Auberge for a great stay, and THANK-YOU to Kim!!

We visited the eastern townships last week and chose the auberge for the first two nights of our trip. Front desk so welcoming and professional, rooms spacious with view of farms and hills and cows in the pasture and the kitchen garden, excellent food and service in the bistro ( thank you Janie and Samantha), cozy bed with comforters, hot tub outdoors with great view... I can't say enough good things about this inn and its location and staff. Highly recommend, can't wait to go back.

We decided to do "La route des vins" (3 couples) in the general area of Cowansville, Qc.
We planned to stay at the Auberge & Spa West Brome the first night... We stayed three nights!
The Auberge is well located just a few kilometers from the major wineries of the region. The quality of the front desk personnel is exceptional. After the first day, the lady at the desk was addressing us by our name and went out of her way to accommodate us for two additional days (and the Auberge was busy). The rooms are comfortable and the view from ours (on the second floor) worth noting. The kitchen is good (not great but good) and prices are reasonable. The pool was in good order and a swim before supper was just what was needed to relax after a full day of visits. (Apart from the pool we didn't have time to use the other "spa" facilities).
The garden with fresh vegetables and flowers is an attraction by itself. We have no hesitation to recommend the Auberge to anyone looking for a quiet and friendly hotel in the region.

Room Tip: We choose the "Evasion" option i-e room , breakfast and dinner included.

If you are looking for a relaxing and quiet place to recharge your batteries, this is the hotel for you. We stayed for 4 days one week ago. It was very quiet, even though there was a conference going on. The resort is on a hill side and surrounded by farm land. The personnel is very very service oriented and goes out of their way to please you. The services we received at the spa were excellent. The facial I got from Carole was out of this world! My husband had a massage and he said it was the best he ever had!!! We had breakfast every day at the auberge and it was fine ... a bit repetitive after 4 days but the food was tasty and good. You need to try the raspberry jam, it was out of this world. We also went for dinner once and the food was excellent and the service perfect. The price too was very reasonable. The chef even made a gluten-free dessert for me. We also used the pool and everything was well maintained and clean.

We just returned from our third vacation at the Auberge and Spa West Brome. This is such a special location, wonderfully situated in rolling farm lands in the Eastern Townships of Quebec.

Our accommodations were spacious, clean and nicely decorated. We chose the suite this time, with a separate bedroom, living room and kitchen. We also had two decks. The suite is lovely!

The spa services are top notch and the Indoor pool the perfect place to relax after touring the many interesting villages in the Townships.

Dinners are unbelievable--the chef is absolutely amazing and the meal choices always incredible. This year I had the Salmon three way appetizer (smoked, tartare and gravlax) and the vegetables with soba noodles as the entree. My husband had the leg of lamb which he reported was fabulous. We split the double chocolate dessert--one of the best desserts ever!

The staff is extremely friendly--adding a great deal to the experience.

We are from New Jersey and for us the Eastern Townships are a long drive. But we love the laid back and beautiful Auberge West Brome so much that we keep on returning.

Room Tip: We love the suites. Lots of space to spread out and not too much more than a regular room.
