“Fun for kids”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2013

Room was clean but felt a bit musty and bed was saggy. The kids loved it there with tennis courts, mini golf, swimming pool, shuffle board, camp fire ... We had a motel style room so it was easy to sit outside and relax while the kids played. Dinner was delicious. Kids menu was reasonable.

How pleasant to know that you were able to take advantage of your holidays and also that your children had fun. The family is an important value for us; many activities are possible and games are installed for their great pleasure. Even in the dining room, they can have a menu prepared specially for them. It is also pleasant to know that you appreciated the supper.

Thank you for your comments who are important for us

What a place, views are out of this world all around the island!

Got a package of all included. Room, dinner and breakfast. I'll tell you about my disappointment starting with my dinner; first, mesclun salad with no vinaigrette, then the potage was a bit stretched up with water then came the main course, i was eager to eat my tortellini forester when the pleurottes were like rubber soles, not that i ever eaten rubber soles but they were so BEURK in my mouth that i had to spit them in my table napkin. What about the waitresses, taking my plates away without asking if i was finish. But besides those little things..... Now goto test the bed tell you in the morning but it seams a little springy!!!!.

We went there for our 5th wedding anniversary. We had taken a package that included room, supper and breakfast. The room was small and the bed was uncomfortable. We enjoyed our supper, I had la 'bavette de boeuf' which was super tender. Breakfast was buffet style and was good. It was unfortunately very cold and we couldn't stay outside. They had a nice fireplace outside and I was looking forward to it but it was way too windy.

Room Tip: Not sure what to say here except that the bed was not good. I don't know about the other rooms.

Bonjour chers clients

Hello dear customers

All the received comments are very constructive for us because we always want to be better.

Various sizes of rooms are offered and we would have been probably able to satisfy you on simple request at the front desk.

Unfortunately, we have no control over the outside temperature and over the winds which prevent to light a fire. But the quality of the meals certainly compensated for this light inconvenience.

We got a room in the main building with 2 double beds and a living room.
It was very comfortable.
We stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed all the free activities available to us: Wi-fi, horse shoe game, shuffle board, ping-pong, billiards, mini-golf and of course the beautiful outdoor pool. We also, really enjoyed the views of the river and especially the spa/massage which was also overlooking the river in a Gazebo.
We had a 4 course meal for supper and also 2 breakfasts all very yummy. If you ask at the reception they give you coupons for these meals at a better price than buying directly at the restaurant.
All in all, we feel this hotel to be a 4 + and would definitely recommend it to all vacationers.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Hotel Cap-aux-Pierres from Saturday evening to Sunday evening. I booked this hotel because of the location and the view on the water, after reading some reviews I was a bot nervous because most of them seemed bad. We arrived on satuirday evening and were dissapointed because it was cold and rainy amd we thought we would be stuck in the room the whole time. We had already eaten supper in nearby Baie St Paul- (Restaurant Le mouton noir- Amazing restaurant), but once we arrived the dining room was packed and it looked like we would have had a good time. We went for a walk to enjoy the scenery but by then it was dark and we thought top ourselves this vacation is ruined because of the rain. We saw that the hotel had an amazing outdoor pool that faces the river, but it also had an indoor pool which we wnded up using. It had a games room with pool table and ping-pong table also. Yes the rooms were a little dated and i thought the bathrooms were going to be nasty, but they were preety clean and everything was very white and fresh looking.
The next morning we had the buffet breakfast which was very good... something for everyone. We noticed that they have a trampoline outdoors near the pool. The best thing about this hotel is the view. There are tables and chairs to sit on facing the river ... Breathtaking.

Shame on the Dufour Family for creating a monopoly of tourism in the Charlevoix-Tadoussac area and not having enough respect for their clientele to update and maintain the standards of their hotel.

1) At breakfast, their was no wait staff. The Maitre d'hotel was serving customers. Supper staff had not filled the kitchen, so there was no food to eat. We paid a supplement to get a food and room package and there was no food. We felt extremely bad for the Maitre d'Hotel who had the embarassing job of letting people know about the situation.

2) At supper, the bread in the bread basket was molded. It smelled like mold, as if it had been in a bread basket with high humidity for many days. Understanding the breakfast situation, I truly believe the supper staff served whatever was left in the kitchen, including molded bread. It was mixed into the basket with fresh bread. I've never in my life smelled bread so fowl.

3) The pool was dingy, dirty and cold. It is in the basement of the hotel with tiny windows. There were towels that had been dirty for days laying around. I believe cleaning staff only comes in once a week.

4) The rooms are dingy and not renovated. The floors and furniture are crooked, the bathroom is not all that clean (there was hair stuck on the walls) and the carpets feel dirty.

5) Internet did not work. The signal of the connection was not strong enough

I have stayed in hotels similar to these, but paid under 50$ a night. It is not acceptable to me that the Dufour Family who became so rich off tourists treat their hotels like this and allow them to deteriorate so.

We paid over 200$ for a dingy dive, molded food and no breakfast. Unacceptable. And a shame because Ile-aux-coudres is a beautiful place, the hotel is located on the river and the views are spectacular. Sadly, it has ridden on its reputation for the past 20 or more years, but certainly it does not live up to it. I will never return and cannot recommend it.

Stay on the island for the day and go sleep in La Malbaie or Baie St-Paul.

Room Tip: Don't sleep here at all.

The location itself on this tiny island is exceptional

For the hotel services, it would be somewhat overpriced given the quality of the lodging if it were not on this island.

Simple, rustic style rooms. Decor is circa 1975, could be updated. Can get noisy if you do not have <respectful> neighbours.

Room Tip: The higher , the quieter. Away from the elevator.
