We enjoyed our three night stay at Le Manoir. We had adjoining rooms and they could use updating but were very nice and quite large - the bathroom in one was huge. Everyone we met was friendly, helpful and went out of their way to make our stay easier. Yes, we had to call down for robes but they even had ones that fit our kids. They were promptly brought to us as well. The pools are outstanding. They are very warm. I heard 91 degrees. The view is spectacular and we had no problems sleeping. One thing that is lacking is the food and it is not cheap! We ate at The Belleriviere twice and the only thing that appealed on the menu the first time was the appetizer platter - it was all deep friend but it did the trick. The second dinner there my husband had the buffet which he liked a lot. My kids went for the appetizer platter again and I had the burger. It was inedible. It didn't even taste like beef. My kids did comment that we were surrounded by old people (not a bad thing) and we explained that a lot of the people from the casino probably ate there too - for the buffet. I think in hindsight - we all should have gone for the buffet the second night but live and learn. The concierge was very helpful in setting up whale watching and horseback riding for our family. I had contacted them ahead of time and they had everything set up and details waiting for us upon our arrival. They even called to get a question I had answered while I stood at the desk. The hotel exterior is spectacular and the grounds that we explored were very nice. We had a great time when we were there and would stay there again - but we would find other dining options.

Room Tip: Try to stay away from the rooms that overlook the parking lot.

Stayed 4 nights at this hotel and was totally blown away by the beauty of the hotel and the surrounding area.

The rooms were beautifully decorated and the beds were extremely comfortable.

My child who is 11 had a fun time enjoying the facilities of the hotel. We used the pool, mini put and spent a few hours fishing. There were many activities for children to take part in.

Great escape for a family and I can see how this hotel would also be a romantic setting for just adults as well.

The hotel is typical Fairmont fare, excellent accommodation, service and food. The buffet breakfast was very good, with a lot of choices, most memorable the excellent Atlantic smoked salmon which was available every day. We had booked a package that included breakfast and tickets for a whale watching tour with AML Cruises on the St. Lawrence. The cruise was very nice, we got to see a lot of Beluga whales, the only problem is that the cruise was advertised as bilingual in both French and English. However, this is not true. Over 90% of the commentary was in French. She spoke two or three words in English, than she went in a rant of about 10 minutes in French. There were a lot of English speaking people on board, most of them Americans. Therefore, if you do not speak French, do not take a cruise with AML, try other companies that operate in the area. The Wi-Fi is free if you are a member of the Fairmont President's Club.

Room Tip: The 2 a la carte restaurants are very expensive. We ate dinner at the Bellerive and for $35.00 per person was a bargain. The buffet was excellent, a lot of variety and something new everyday. As a bonus, if you opt to sit on the terrace, you have a fantastic view of the St. Lawrence and if lucky, might see a whale or two. If you want to book a St. Lawrence River Cruise, do not book through the hotel. The company that has a stand in the lobby is AML and they provide cruises basically in French only.

We recently stayed at the manoir with our two kids. When we showed up at 5pm we were told that our room was not ready yet. We were anxious to get to the pool so the lady at the front desk offered us free drinks at the poolside bar and said she would call when our room was ready. By 7pm we had not heard back so we decided to check with the front desk. I called from the pool but no one answered. I then went in person to find only one clerk left at the desk on a busy evening. she told us that of course our room was ready but she hadn't had time to call.

Since it was late we decided to eat at the manoir at the buffet restaurant. It was great to sit on the patio and the food was decent enough but the waiter was way to busy and it was impossible to get his attention.

The following night we decided to have dinner at the quieter bar and the waiter was nice enough to let us order from the Bellerive restaurant. This made for a much nicer evening.

We enjoyed the pool very much but I was amazed that staff would not clear towels from unused chairs and tables. No waiters would come by to take drink orders and there was only one person working at the bar.

Generally the staff were really friendly and nice but the service just wasn't quite up to par with what you'd expect from a fairmont hotel.... And we have stayed at most fairmont hotels across the country.

Finally it seems that the only activities organized for kids were aimed at really young kids. They was nothing for our kids age 10-15. It's a shame because there were a lot of families with older kids.

This is one of the most prestigious accommodations in all of Charlevoix but staying there comes at a premium .The rooms are nice and stately but nothing exceptional .We experienced several things which , based on the price and reputation of the hotel ,were not anticipated nor acceptable...small things like having no bathrobes in the room , phone that didn't work properly and a fridge that wasn't cold .When you pay almost $800 for 2 evenings you expect attention to detail and a stress free stay that doesn't involve calling the front desk to fix oversights as I just mentioned . The property is beautiful and the facilities are fantastic .Sadly from what I experienced and heard on our stay the quality of food does not warrant the inflated prices and the buffet breakfast is not worth the high price tag .There are exceptional restaurants very close bye that are awesome.
All of the staff we encountered were professional, helpful and competent and the facilities ... the 2 pools, putting greens , tennis courts are well maintained and user friendly..
