It was marvelous! Why is it so few Canadians know about it and why doesn't Le Chateau Montebello promote it to its guests!!!
From the chateau it's about a 2 minute walk to the Manoir - I'd say it's on the same property but perhaps not. The Manoir is run by Parks Canada. Anyways, a most beautiful elegant home - the lower floor that you see is furnished in many originals owned by the family. The guided tour costs about 7.00 and is worth so much more. You learn about the social mores of the time, the political connections of the Papineaus, etc. the gorgeous dumbwaiter in the dining room is to die for. I will try to time our next visit so that we can take High Tea the way the family would have enjoyed it. We're so glad that we accidentally found it on one of our walks - I still can't believe that it isn't actively promoted.
