Description: In Laja cooking wine region of Baja California is brewing . Over the years we have achieved the magical space that sums up the essence of Valle de Guadalupe ; Natural and simple elegance of where tastes and feelings so deep and clear capriciously endure over time arise . We offer a set menu that changes every day. The backbone of our kitchen is our own garden . The vegetable is our thermometer , our clock and our reference . We ranks and season ( not all years are equal). At your own pace , from vegetables , sprouts , herbs and seasonings our menu comes alive . The nearby Pacific Ocean offers great and always surprising ingredients and producers of cheese , oils and meats from the region deeply grounded our offer.

Gourmet restaurant in the middle of the valley, the menu changes every day according to local available options and is presented in a very casual gourmet setting overlooking the valley. It offers two different menus and a nice wine list. I recommend to enjoy the terrace during dessert. Service was very good.

We were staying with friends who own a home in Baja and had heard fabulous reviews about Laja & the four of us decided it would be the perfect place to eat after visiting a couple of wineries. We were not aware that the menu was prix fixe (we're not huge eaters) but decided to go for it. Let me start by saying, nothing was bad but nothing was over the moon either.
The sunchoke soup was quite bland, the heirloom salad was just OK. The corn and beef cannelloni was just so-so, our husbands thought the seabass was good, but still longing for more, we were really hoping the dessert was going to knock our socks off - berry salad with vanilla ice cream. They bring you a spoon that's huge (bigger than a normal table spoon, like mixing size) & you are salivating like crazy (very warm day), then IT arrives - 2 blackberries, a strawberry (sliced) and the smallest bite of ice cream you have EVER seen (the samples of vanilla ice cream at Costco are bigger). The ENTIRE dessert could have fit in the huge spoon with plenty of real estate left over. We had such high hopes and left feeling like wow, that was a LOT of money and just not worth it.

The owners, Andres, and Chef Jair have created a wonderful restaurant that should not be missed if you are traveling to Vale de Guadalupe. Every dish was prepared with fresh local ingredients, tasting simple and clean. I look forward to going back.

I didn't know what to expect from LAJA but it was just wonderful. We have a large group (7 people) and decided to all do the 8 course meal. While 8 courses sounds like a lot, the plates were small so it was just the right amount of food. Standout were the grilled quail, pulpo with peppers and grilled sea bass. Service was excellent and the price was right!
