A definate must stay for your baja adventure. Javier was a perfect host, he even gave us cold pacificos when we arrived after a days ride. The restaurant and bar are great too. You can ride for many day trips around the area so stay at least two nights if not 3. They give you a big bottle of purified water in your room. The maid will do your laundry for a small fee too!

We travelled by motorcycle from Alberta down to Baja. Our first few nights we decided to splurge and stay in a resort in Ensenada. It was nice - but definitely not the 'Baja vibe' I was looking for. Then we decided to ride a little further South and found the Old Mill via Trip Advisor. I emailed the hotel directly and Angie replied back within a few minutes. Wow! Excellent. So we booked the 'Suite II' for 2 nights. Upon arriving - after the awesome dual-sport road to get to it, we were given a couple of cold beers. What a way to welcome a person. I love it! A couple of other guys on dirt bikes had just arrived prior to us. A little chatting and then to find our room. The room was awesome - with a great view of the bay. I really don't want to leave. We headed over to Don Eddie's across the way for lunch. Seafood... cooked perfectly with a salad, veg and baked potato. Good stuff. Currently sitting at the little hand carved wooden table and chairs outside the balcony and typing this review. Ahead of me is a view of the water, palm trees and the warm sunshine. A few of us talked about riding down to Baja again and I'll make sure to bypass Ensenada and head straight here. Bloody awesome!

Room Tip: Just book the Suite 2. Worth it :)

My husband and I stayed at Old Mill recently after being disappointed with Jardines. We hadn't wanted to drive the long bumpy road to get there but were glad that we did. We loved the hotel, location on a beautiful bay, and the fact that it is truly pet friendly. And Javier was friendly and helpful and even gave my husband a beer. It has the true old Mexico feel but is clean and comfortable and cozy. It is a nice location on a pretty bay. The restaurant next door is outstanding for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We will make a point of staying there again on our next trip to the tip of Baja in the fall.

Room Tip: Suite II is upstairs with a balcony looking at the bay. And a fireplace and two bedrooms.

San Quintin seemed a better stopover than Ensenada en route to Guerrero Negro or in the reverse except that it has few hotels but if you can find it, the Old Mill (despite with the desk clerk at Jardines said) is a neat place to stay. They definitely need signage...what exists is old and unreadable in the evening but once found, it's a nice place run by really nice people who speak English. It sits on a lagoon from where there is charter fishing and fishing in general and is next to a good restaurant with fresh, moderately priced (for Baja, not the US) fish and other food. Our room had no TV but it was spacious, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also quite large and clean although older and with more wood than tile. The dirt road is rather bumpy and rocky but worth the effort and the rates are modest. They were quick to communicate via email and we booked with no trouble through their Web site. You can walk out on the piers in the morning and enjoy the birds and fishermen heading out. We'd stay again for sure.

This place rocks! And literally, the mile stretch of road to get there is literally rocky and bumpy. But once you're there, it's so peaceful and quiet (well, not as much at night and on the weekends).

I really like the setup of this place. Most of the rooms surround a nice little courtyard where you can bbq, lounge, etc. I wasn't a big fan of all the small lava rocks that would get into my shoes, etc.

Javier was there to greet us and check us in. Really nice guy - picked us up some beers on the house after dealing with us. Also offered to pick up some oysters, clams, and more beer. They sort of operate on the honor-system there - really nice people.

The room we were in was sufficient. It's definitely not luxury but it was generally clean and fine for our needs. The tap water is slightly salty so don't drink it - in fact, there was a 5gal jug of clean water available for you to drink from or fill your bottles up with.

There's sufficient room for gear (if you're fishing) and it's pretty close to the pier/dock/launch ramp for the fishing boats that go out each morning.

Really convenient, maybe not as nice as Jardines or Hotel Mision Santa Maria/La Pinta/Desert Inn but great on its own accord. The Old Mill restaurant wasn't too bad either! I would probably stay there again on a future fishing trip.
