“Magical B & B”
Reviewed 10 September 2012

A magical B & B in the heart of town just one half block from main square. The ambiance, hospitality, decor and staff are terrific, all overseen by your host, Cynthia. On site manager, Luis, is very helpful and will arrange daily excursions to the neighboring pueblos. Delicious breakfasts served every morning in delightful dining room with expansive open Mexican kitchen. Great rates with summer discounts. Would definitely return and highly recommend.

We stayed at La Casa Encantada last time we visited Patzcuaro. The first thing we loved was the lovely cat who seemed to be our host; she was walking with the lady who showed us the rooms. We stayed at El Angel room, and it was a delight. The decoration, the courtesy wine, the bathroom, you name it! The breakfast is also great and it’s included in the rate. The staff is very helpful and friendly, but they are not intrusive at all. We felt as if we were at home, coming and going every time we wanted with no one watching over us. The only trouble we had in here was trying to light up the gas stove we had in the room for warming purposes. Other than that, it was a delightful experience and we enjoyed this B&B from the moment we crossed the patio until the very last minute we spent there. I must say, if you are not a pet lover, you may not feel very comfortable here as there are a couple of cats and a couple of dogs wandering around the place (they live here, so they are the hosts!)

I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The ambiance is both soothing and engaging, with a courtyard garden with flowers and fountains, and a dining area with a nice fireplace, all filled with wonderful works of art.

A well-appointed room overlooking the courtyard greeted me with an extremely confortable bed.

And the food... Wonderful. They have one of the coolest kitchens I've ever seen, and they know how to use it!

Close proximity to the central plaza and basilica area added bonuses.

This place is fantastic, will definitely be coming back.

We visited Patzcuaro because we love Mexican artisanias. The area was very interesting as we had plenty of things to do. There are interesting markets, small villages with crafts nearby, and La Casa Encantada was wonderful. We long to return. The restaurants are plentiful and the food at the hotel for breakfast is wonderful. We also visited the local Presbyterian church where they are working with street children, and we attended the Sunday service. If you wish to stay out of a major city and still be in an area with a lot of great buildings and activities, this is the place. My only down comment about the hotel was that we often had cold showers.

Note to Trip Advisor: we have not returned because we live close to the border and the region has a travel advisory. AntonioSanAntonio235

I actually am the same person who is AntonioSanAntonio. I simply moved and tried to operate from a different area. That did not work, so I rejoined.

Room Tip: Take a sweater for the cool nights. The upstairs rooms might be more interesting if you can see mor...

I've stayeed at La Casa Encantada several times over the last years. The hotel is loveky and comfortable.. The breakfasts are wonderful. Cynthia and Victoria are wonderful hosts. They have the most adorable 3 dogs, and 2 cats who roam around the property, which is beautifully maintained, I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Patzcuaro.

Room Tip: I particulary like El Angel y El Colonial.

If a romantic evening is what you are craving, do I have the suggestion for you: La Casa Encantada in Pátzcuaro, Michoacán. Every couple needs to get away now and again from the business of daily life--even if you are retired--and enjoy a restorative night of romance in a gorgeous place in which you are treated like visiting royalty, every need attended to perfectly and sweetly, down to the iced champagne and chocolate kisses. My honey and I arrived in the mid-afternoon, and spent an hour or so just soaking up the peace and harmony of the Casa´s exquisite garden and then spent a few hours cuddling on the ample sofa in the newly remodeled Colonial Suite. We even watched a movie--The Mummy, of all things--and held hands and giggled at the show. The champagne helped. When we got sleepy, we curled up in the king-sized bed with cotton sheets and a comforter and spent a restful night with not a single noise intruding. In the morning, late, we showered in the beautiful bath luxuriating in gullywashers of hot water, dressed, and headed a few meters through the garden to the finely appointed and comfortable dining room and enjoyed a breakfast of fresh tropical fruit and delicious soft tacos filled with a delectable concoction of eggs. We sat enjoying Victoria and Cynthia´s ´fantastic collection of antique huipiles and all the rest of the art. We talked and laughed and, yes, billed and cooed, and it was truly one of the best experiences we have had as a couple, thanks to La Casa Encantada. I would recommend it for anyone wanting a romantic getaway to a stunningly beautiful place that is run efficiently and professionally and with lots and lots of heart.

Room Tip: All of the rooms I saw were beautiful and cozy. I could spend the rest of my life in that suite in t...

I thought as I looked thru the gated entrance.Loving most things mexican, this was like heaven. The rooms very comfortable, gardens and courtyards gorgeous with lots of seating. Excellent breakfast with fruit, tea and coffee available thru out the day .Fridge available for guests. Although minutes from the main square, shops and resturants our stay was peaceful. Staff very helpful. We enjoyed this Casa so much, we returned a week later!!

Room Tip: Apparently road noise could be a problem some nights.
