Santa Clara del Cobre has been a stop of mine for the past 4 years. The merchants are varied and offer a range of quality items, from the mass produced trinkets to the one of a kind pieces of sculptured copper. As usual, I bought more than the one I planned on buying. The tourist trade is very slow; the news of the violence in Michiocan is stopping many from visiting. I stayed on the main roads and did not feel endangered at all. Many of the shops I had visited previously were closed due to the low tourist trade. To me, this town is a must see when in the Patzcuaro area.
