“A bit noisy, overpriced for what it is”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

It was clean, but no A/C. The room was a bit stuffy when I entered, but, as it gets cooler at night in December in Zitacuaro, I could sleep well.
I had trouble connecting to the wi-fi (even though the gentleman at the reception gave me the password).
The central courtyard makes it very noisy; the sound would bounce around before coming to your room, and the people there seem to like to close the doors with force.
I was woken at 7:15 a.m. by a marching band rehearsing nearby... (not the hotel's fault, but the surrounding area seems noisy).
All in all, I agree with a previous reviewer: just skip Zitacuaro! Go straight from Angangueo to Morelia, there is nothing to see or do in Zitacuaro, and, frankly, the city is ugly!

We visited Zitacuaro this past month as it appeared in Mexico Desconocido as a quaint Michoacan town. We were disappointed to find an ugly, overpriced city that offered little in the way of lodging. After visiting 4 hotels in the "historic downtown" district, we settled for El Conquistador (it was getting dark). The room was overpriced, but decent sized (we got the Jr. suite), but what really stands out in my mind was the complete lack of customer service. My partner got a good piece of his index finger pinched off when he tried to settle in a rickety chair in the restaurant (see photo). The waitress gave him a bandaid to stop the bleeding, but no one else ever came to check on him, help him, or offer an apology. Bad, bad customer service (and mean furniture!)
