Our stay at the St. Regis Punta Mita was delightful and the hospitality was first-rate! We took an easy 45-minute cab ride from the airport in Puerto Vallarta and were transported to a tropical paradise of immaculate, spacious accommodations nestled amid lush gardens and tranquil pools. Our hosts greeted us with a choice of Margaritas or tea (now, which would you choose?) and our room butler made sure that we were set for a relaxing 3-night stay. The privacy of the resort was precisely what we wanted and we had the choice of dining in our room or in one of the restaurants. All of the staff were helpful and went out of their way to ensure our stay was pleasant. On our second afternoon, we took a cab ride into the town of Punta de Mita and enjoyed lunch in a beach-side restaurant. Booking through the concierge, our third day included a 3-hour trip to the Marietas Islands. The crew of the small boat picked us up from the beach and 15-20 minutes later we were snorkeling off the coral reef! For our first Mexican vacation, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. If relaxation and beach combing in a private setting is what you're looking for, St. Regis Punta Mita is the ideal get-away.

Had the opportunity to stay here for 3 days/2 nights. Fabulous location right on the beach. A refreshing change from staying in the city - Puerto Vallarta. Why? Well, no vendors on the beaches; peace & quiet at night for sleeping; gorgeous rooms, and we had a butler!!! Our favorite feature in our room: the outdoor shower! Loved all the choices of pools to swim in. I will say the pools were a bit on the chilly side! Excellent spa. Flooring is slippery, so be careful. A friend of mine fell in the showers there. Don't know why they put down such slippery tile. Anyway, we loved it there. Am sure we will return.

Room Tip: My Tip: Would prefer a room on the upper level for better view of ocean.

The resort is quite new and in a gated resort community. The upside is that you are in a very secure and safe setting. The downside is that I didn't really get the "feel" of Mexico. The rooms are lovely and the outside shower is tops- The pools are nice and gardens lush. We took a great walk along the beach (wear water shoes or sandals) to the 4 Seasons- about 20 or 30 minutes.
Food- We ate at Sea Breeze (the food was just okay & expensive, yet service was very attentive)
Mariettas- for breakfast buffet (okay... pretty typical offerings); Room Service- set up breakfast on the balcony one morning- and that was excellent and on time (altho I agree with another review to order 30 minutes before you want it- as another morning breakfast was delayed.
Off Property- We took a shuttle to the tennis center and walked through the side service entrance into the actual town of Punta Mita. The concierge assured us this was fine. The town is along a beach with plenty of restaurants. We picked one on the end- and had a plate of garlic shrimp for lunch that was $12 and delicious. People do approach you selling things but it wasn't offensive. We took a cab at night and ate at Margarita's and had great fresh seafood. Cab was $10- hotel arranged for us to get there and restaurant called for one for us to return to St. Regis. In town you can make arrangements to rent a paddle board, go on a whale watch etc.
Shopping- actually the best gift shops we found for close-by souvenirs were over in the 4Seasons Hotel. They have 4 shops - really well stocked with great items. Probably pricier than a market- but for the time we had, it worked well.
Tennis- we did take rackets and play an hour each day. Lots of courts- $25 per hour and they do rent rackets, balls etc.

Room Tip: I liked second floor room with balcony/patio area... of course ask to be close to the water.

This was my 2nd stay at the St. Regis Punta Mita within 6 months. I truly enjoy this resort because it's far away from mass tourism yet easy to reach, that said, there's not much to do or go to unless you drive to Puerto Vallarta.

The grounds are immaculate with 3 different pool areas. Even when the property is full, you never feel it. The rooms (mostly) are located around the three pool areas in small houses with 2 rooms on each floor, totaling 4 rooms per house. Most units have an ocean and pool view and every unit has a terrace.

The rooms are very nicely decorated and even the standard rooms have a great size with an over-sized bathroom including an outdoor shower (the shower-heads outside could use some upgrading so).

The service was always prompt, whether this was in the restaurants or for any other requests, however the housekeeping was a little off. Sometimes they wouldn't service our room until 4 PM even though we left at 9 AM, and then they would come back at 5 PM for the night turn-down service, causing us to return to a dark room even so it was still light outside.

The food was very good in all restaurants, however the breakfast buffet price seems a little steep considering the offerings so the quality was always great. While we were there, out of the three restaurants only two were open at any given time, and while we liked the Mexican menu at La Marietas for dinner, the nights it was closed, we dined at Sea Breeze, which is a very nice setting and has great service, but after three nights the menu seemed a little boring. The food was always great but I wish they would have done more to change the menu nightly, such as having daily specials or offer the menu from La Marietas at Sea Breeze. I understand not all restaurants can be kept open at the same time when running at low occupancy but a menu enhancement would certainly be an improvement. Their fine dining is nice but when one comes from New York, we weren't really looking for that. There are limited outside food options and hence we wanted to stay at the St. Regis.

From check-in to check-out the employees were greeting us and were very friendly. After two days most employees we interacted with on a daily basis greeted us by name.

The ocean is beautiful, and the loungers are very nice wooden ones (compared to plastic at the Four Seasons next door). There's a lot of space between parties at the beach so it feels very private. The water is rocky so. They provide shoes but even the area in the water that has been cleaned of rocks is used only with caution. It's only a minor set back but if you have children that want to play in the ocean, be careful.

One more note, while this might not be in the hotels hands, the green-fee is expensive. Both courses are great and you might not see another Golfer when you play, but $250 for the rounds is quite a price. No afternoon rate or twilight rate is available.

I will certainly return as I find this to be one of the best St. Regis resorts I have encountered within or close to the US.

Room Tip: They're all great!

We recently stayed at The St. Regis March 1st - 5th, 2012. We could go on and on about how awesome our trip was! After a long day of travel, we arrived at the hotel to find servers lining up with trays of drinks and appetizers waiting for us at the beautifully decorated lobby area that overlooks a cascading fountain down to one of the pools. The service staff were so attentive to all of our needs and made our stay that much more enjoyable. Our butler, Carlos, went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed. The property itself is gorgeous and decorated fabulously. We were in the deluxe suite and it was perfect for a couple, very spacious, great patio and both an indoor and outdoor shower. We felt extremely safe at the hotel and throughout the area around the resort. The restaurants were awesome and the food was wonderful. The room service breakfast was so delicious and we enjoyed eating on the patio looking at the ocean. Be sure to order room service early, like 45 minutes to an hour before you want to eat, it does take a while but it is worth it! The spa was extremely relaxing and the massage was also wonderful. My husband loved both the golf courses and said the views were spectacular. They stored his clubs for him which he thought was helpful. This resort is even more beautiful than the pictures can capture and hopefully we will be able to go back again someday to enjoy this incredible area. We highly recommend it:)

We just got back from our second visit to the St. Regis. It is a piece of heaven! The grounds are gorgeous, rooms are amazing....luxurious and spacious. The staff is unbelievable and will get anything you need. The views are the best I have seen. The food is outstanding and we will keep coming back year after year. The St. Regis Punta Mita is a treasure!

Like our great experience at St.Regis in Mexico City we were equally impressed and very, very happy at our next stop - St. Regis Punta Mita. Having looked at the pictures and read the info on the www our expectations were enormous. We spent 8 nights and enjoyed every minute tremendously. The entire staff from the front office, concierges, bell captains, maids, everywhere in the restaurants and bars, on the beach, at the pool, in the spa we were welcomed and spoiled. Our butler knocked on our door when we had just walked into our room and for our entire stay he bent over backwards to guess our needs and to fulfill them. We were extremely impressed by the professionalism and kindness we received from everyone - we loved the excellent food in all three restaurants and wonderful treatments in the spa. And of course - the whole place is so beautiful where ever you look, so you have to pinch yourself to make sure you are not dreaming. Well designed, good taste, top materials in great colours - far more beautiful than the other resort near by. Our only worry was that the days and nights passed too quickly.

Room Tip: All the rooms are with ocean view so the choice should be based on how far one wants to be from rest...
