I have travelled all over the world, looking for places, restaurant and people to wow me. Honestly, Imanta Resort Punta Mita is absolutely THE BEST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED AT. I seriously was in an ommmm and awwwwww state my whole visit there .. I didn't want to leave, and I seriously considered buying a piece of property there ...
Where to start? it's hard when you don't want to ruin the experience for somebody else ... but i'll do my best to make it justice without leaking vital info ...
Whatever you see on their webpage www.imantaresorts.com is true, correct and accurate. The place shows the BEST pictures ever taken or a nature paradise combined with luxury retreats .. it;s hard to think that its true ... well, it felt short once you step out of the car and see the absolute magestic view of the place .. simply stunning !!!! no words to describe the beauty of Imanta.
250 acres of jungle, nature, fauna, flora .. i mean the place is just SICK!!!, you have your private beach and the best sunsets... very hard to beat .. Mexico is full of hidden gems, but Imanta is the crown of the jewels and is just breathtaking .... if the beauty of nature is not enough, then you have your fat rooms, and i mean FAT ROOMS. The most luxurious, spacious, conveniently appointed, etc etc etc .. but i think all of that falls short when you find that all the stone, marble, and wood taken to build your room, the restaurant, etc was taken from Imanta itself .. EVERYTHING you see is locally sourced, renewable, ecological and made in such a way that it's truly remarkable earth-conciousness-wise but also architectural wise (speaking of eco tourism and luxury green stays) ... you can really feel the good vibe Imanta exudes and the connection with nature in a total different way ... all of that while you can experience the best tequila and margaritas beach side at your private pool/sea cabana ... the design and furnishings of the place is absolutely delicate, top notch and ergonomic. They partenered with world renowned designer Pineda Covalin to create huichol designs for the pillows and linens. The little pieces of art incorporated in the construction are just a whimsical touch (the half tree inside your bathroom, or the bath tub carved from a big stone)...
And if all the above isn't enough, you have your private plunge pool, a bathtub inside the room, and a jacuzzi with views of the ocean !!!!
The common areas (store, library, restaurant, pool, art gallery) are simply to die for... the elaborate carvings on the stone, the candlelit passages and tables, the photographies, and to end it all, a star observatorium, built the way the ancient cultures did .... just the stars, and you .... you and your thoughts, you and your sweety, you and your family sharing this special moment in the middle of the jungle ... honestly it gives me goosebumps.
Yes, we know the beach is not white sand like the one in the Mayan Riviera, but the beach in the Nayarit Riviera is not bad at all and posses different challenges. Don't get discouraged by that or by the entrance to the resort, which can look a little sketchy, but it came to my attention that the owners are working closely with the government to make it look much better.
And finally the people made it SO much more special ... it's just unbelievable friendly, chill, honestly nice, genuine staff that treat you as if you were family, Everybody is eager to help, chat, teach, being taught and be merry together. They have a program where they destine part of their profits to help local communities and to build them a better life style, and it shows. They are a responsible giving-back-company that truly cares about the environment and the community.
Imanta is not for everyone. It's only for the people that recognize and cherish the place, the nature and the beauty of its people. It's only for magical guests that can bring something to Imanta and take much more from it.
Yes, it has a high price on it, but trust me, it's well worth it.
My only suggestion will be to overlook the chef and the recipes. The breakfast, ceviches and simple dishes are delicious, but more elaborate cuisine is definetely not the best and it needs a revamp.
I will post pictures on my next visit .. until then, bon voyage to all of you who embark in one of the nicest adventures south of the border.
