“Great Homecooked Mexican Food and Super Prices.”
Reviewed 9 July 2013

Great little eatery behind the dive ship. They don't serve beer, but don't mind if you bring your own. Very good true Mexican food for a very reasonable price.
If you need foo-foo food, 5 star ambiance or service, this isn't your place!

“Authentic”

I really enjoyed the meal we had. Chicken fajitas served with cooked beans(nada sugary)white rice, hot green sauce and a coke in a glass bottle. It was a large serving.

“Our favorite breakfast in all of Akumal hands down!”
Reviewed 1 April 2013

Loved this quaint outdoor restaurant. It's kinda tucked back behind other buildings next door to the Akumal Dive Center. We ate breakfast here more days than not on our recent trip. Food was delicious and dirt cheap. We tried several things on their breakfast menu, eggs with chaya, eggs w/ different meats, eggs come with beans and tortillas and awesome homemade salsa. My husband and I shared their delicious fruit plate which had a wide variety of fruit and cup of yogurt for dipping. Also tried a drink called jamaica, which is a hibiscus iced tea - was like nothing Ive ever had before.

Since we enjoyed breakfast so much we came back at night for their Mayan Buffet (only 2 nights/week). This was so much fun! There were only 4 tables of patrons, so was like a small intimate party with friends. Food was absolutely amazing and Imelda was absolutely beaming during the whole experience. You can tell this is her absolute favorite thing to do in life to serve her wonderful food to people and have them enjoy her other family members dance for us. The dancing was excellent, and ended with an unexpected dance lesson. This was a really unique local experience that I highly recommend. You can tell it is the highlight of their week putting this together. Some of the nicest sweetest people we met in Akumal -- also the best food!

“Check out the Mayan buffet”
Reviewed 10 March 2013

Two nights a week, Imelda serves up a Mayan buffet along with some music and dancing entertainment. The food was really excellent, different than anything else we had in Akumal, and the whole thing was a surprisingly intimate experience, as there were only about five tables set up around the small courtyard area where the dancers were. It was a real family affair - Imelda's two children were among the dancers - and in the end they invited all the guests to come up and join them in dancing. It sounds touristy, I know, but it was really nice, and Imelda was incredibly warm and friendly. We went back and had breakfast there later in the week which was also very good. A really nice experience, we were glad we went.
