Perfect spot after snorkeling at the entrance of akumal. About 1 km inside akumal, it has a pool ,hammocks, swings and a tree house that can hold 4 adults with a bucket so you can bring drinks up. Of course the view is amazing, clear, pristine waters. Good food and ambiance.

“Bar food, slow service”
Reviewed 17 July 2014 via mobile

Nice restaurant and easy to get to on the North side of town. Nice wait staff but very slow. Ambiance is good especially tables outside by the water. There are swings at the bar that our kids sat in while eating and table tops in the trees- The food is terrible. It won't kill you, it's fresh but it's just expensive tasteless bar food. I had lobster, my hband had shrimp diabla. Kids had cheeseburger and chicken fingers, no rating on that as no one ate them which is normal for my kids. Also had rib, calamari and guacamole apps. All unimpressive. Save your money and hit the taco stand in Akumal central.

“Fantastic beach restaurant/bar”
Reviewed 15 July 2014 via mobile

We had our first evening's dinner at La Buena Vida and we were extremely pleased. The margaritas and mojitos were to die for! I had Pibil, pulled pork, which was fantastic with great patatas fritas. Others enjoyed fish tacos and other local dishes. Service was great and sitting right off the beach in the cool of the evening made the whole experience (thunderstorm out over the Caribbean). The next afternoon we lounged at the beach for five hours eating and drinking, with occasional dips in the sea. Excellent!

“Great Atmosphere”
Reviewed 15 July 2014

La Buena Vida has the perfect setting on a quiet beach. We stopped by several times for dinner or just drinks. We liked the two-hour happy hour each day, even though we didn't always make it there in time. The food is pretty good and the drink menu was pretty lengthy. I never was wowed by the service though. Other restaurants had more friendly service but it was just average here and, if we were there closer to closing time (around 10:30-10:45 PM), we felt rushed to get our bill paid and leave.

However, for what this place lacked in service, the great location and views definitely were strong points. The treehouse is quiet and secluded but has great views of all the palm trees and the beach, which was a perfect location for proposing to my girlfriend!

We will definitely stop by here again when we are in the area.
