“Overpriced Dry Paella, Tough Meat and Soup Overwhelmed by Tortilla Strips”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

Only 2 good things to say, and the rest pretty bad. The Good: (1) the ambiance was very mod' - this could be good or bad depending on whether you wanted to go to a sleepy, Mexican town. (2) The location incredibly nice. However, The Bad: We ordered a Chilean Sauvignon Blanc that cost over $30. At a grocery store, you could get that Sauvignon Blanc for $8 or so. The food was lackluster and overpriced. We ordered the lime soup, which was a joke. We were poured maybe a cup of lime soup, if we were lucky, and this was engulfed by scads of corn tortilla strips. The strips so overwhelmed the soup that there was no soup. The corn tortilla strips soaked up all of the liquid. The paella was dry: the rice almost hard and the shirp and ribs dried and overcooked. And this was not the typical large dish of paella. The order, which cost about $20 was a small, one-person serving. The staff was also underwhelming. In a place as hot as Akumal, you'd expect you would not need repeatedly ask for water refills. The waiter seemed impatient with us and hard to find. I would NOT go back. The Buena Vida just down the road has a better ambiance, better location, better food and better prices!!!

“Romantic and Soothing”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2014

A lovely small-ish restaurant on the beach. Sweet breezes rustle through the palms. Outdoor seating overlooking the beautiful sea. A little more than we usually spend, but the ambiance and service was worth it...and the food was nicely presented and tasty. They often have nice specials on drinks/wine. In the evening, the romantic lighting and sound of the waves are the perfect combination for a relaxing and cozy evening.

“Little gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 July 2014 via mobile

We wandered into La Lunita while walking on the beach, and we're very pleasantly surprised! The service was good and the staff very patient and friendly food was outstanding and the margaritas and sangria the best we've had!

I would highly recommend this establishment!

“So yummy.”

Had the catch of the day --- Mahi Mahi. Delicious. Great service, great atmosphere. We were lucky enough to get a table in the sand.... I recommend contacting them ahead of time for reservations.
