I don't know that there is a lot I can add to the previous reviews, but I will try!

For context we traveled as a couple 40-somethings - fourth visit to the Riviera Maya (Colonial Palladium and GBP Coba twice), first visit without kids. The Adults-only nature of the Sian Ka'an was fantastic, really a selling point.

Upon arrival and check in, our clerk saw that we had connected via email with the legendary Claudia, so moments later, Claudia arrived, confirming all the pre-bookings we had done, wishing my wife a happy b-day and basically looking after us. This professionalism, combined with the good-natured professionalism of all the staff at the Sian Ka'an made for just a wonderful stay.

Our room was top floor Junior Suite booked through Air Canada Vacations and was excellent. Plenty of room, good room for storage and a FANTASTIC large patio overlooking the "active" pool (which truly is never that active!) Cleaning staff were attentive and our fridge was restocked daily.

Shuttles - Were totally fine. Two years ago we stayed at the Coba with someone who had mobility issues, meaning we always needed to take the shuttle to the beach. Sian Ka'an, while further away, is no any longer (time wise) than the Coba. We never had to wait more than 2 minutes, and those that say it's 15 minutes really should check their watch batteries.

Beach - Private area on the beach with chair service. No other section of GBP has this, and I gotta say, it's okay being spoiled. Chairs were better (arm rests) and really it wasn't that hard finding chairs. We were there around 9 or 9:30 and always found a chair (slightly earlier to get shade) - but no 5 am chair wars like you have in some places. The only bit of a problem is since you don't have a towel card, people often just leave towels on their chairs when they leave. Rule of thumb we used - crumpled towels w/ no personal items nearby = chair is fair game. Never had an 'incident'.

Beach is wonderful, or if you don't like what's right in front of the Sian Ka'an area, walk about 30 minutes in either direction and you're still at the GBP.

Pools - Not hugely pool people, but there was enough action to keep people interested, but it's definitely not a big party.

Meals - Ate at two a la cartes - Alux and Maiko....we had high hopes for Alux, but must have ordered the wrong meals. Not fans, in fact we had planned on eating there twice, cancelled the second night. Maiko was excellent - great service, good food, well presented.

Buffet was spectacular - best we've had an all inclusive. Yes it got a little repetitive for main courses, but still, great, fresh and hot. Took part in the Saturday lobster feast....only time the restaurant was PACKED - in fact we had to wait 5 minutes to get in. Lobster was quite good actually.

We got a great deal, great connections through Air Canada Vacations (our homeward flight was delayed and they TRIED to connect with us, but we had just left, happily we didn't have to sit in the airport). Only thing I cannot understand is why they want you to leave your resort 5 hours before your flight....a minor quibble, but made for a long day.

Here is the long story short (too late for that I know) - if you are traveling as a couple and considering the GBP. Unless you NEED to be right on the beach (Tulum), and unless you get a way WAY better deal at one of the other resorts, all of the pluses for the Sian Ka'an really make it a no brainer. It is a far better resort than the others - plus the extra pluses far outweigh the minor inconvenience of the shuttle across the road.

Any questions, I'm happy to share.

Absolutely wonderful resort. My two friends and I stayed at Sian Kaan from Apr 3-7 and I can't imagine having a better time. When we first arrived, we checked in and found our rooms had been upgraded and we got rooms with beautiful large terraces and private jacuzzis..We recieved a welcome margarita and waited for our rooms to be ready at the lobby bar, listening to the mariachi band play. Our rooms were absolutely stunning, with huge door walls. There are 3 pools on site; one is always very quiet and the other two are more activity oriented. The whole resort on the whole is pretty quiet and with it being 18+ the atmosphere is very relaxing. Additionally, Sian Kaan has an exclusive beach area and bar on the beach that is absolutely stunning.

The best thing about this resort was the ability to go onto the 3 accompanying resorts for dinner, activities, and drinks. There are cars every fifteen minutes to take you to the different resorts, and every five minutes to take you to the beach. In fact, only once did we even have to wait. The staff was amazing, friendly, helpful, and very nice. The a la carte restaurants were, for the most part, very good, although for those who normally do not eat gourmet food, I hope you're feeling adventurous. The bars make good drinks and we loved all of our bartenders. The disco was pretty fun, we went 3 out of the 4 nights we were there and had a great time. My girl and I also got massages that were soo relaxing and wonderful in the spa.

The buffet food was alright at best, mostly bland but it was definitely tolerable and they had a special area where you could get fresh omlettes and pasta, the room service was pretty much the same food, but if you ordered at night it was fresh and hot. Additionally, this resort was amazing if you are trying to relax and have a quiet atmosphere but it is definitely not a party resort, and loudness is not appreciated. Additionally, the resort is primarily older people and couples, so single mingling isn't really happening much.

For excursions and off resort things, the tours are available in the hospitality office, make sure you book them a couple of days in advance, and they leave quite early. Also, the front desk will arrange a taxi for you anywhere you want to go, it cost us 330 pesos each way to Playa Del Carmen, but the driver waited for us and took us back to the resort as well so we wouldn't have to negotiate a fare while we were there.

Overall the trip was absolutely amazing and if it were possible I would have never left. Amazing trip and wouldn't have changed anything in the world.

It was our first time in Mexico and it was fantastic. We stayed in one of the suites with a hot tub in the patio and loved it. The resort was well maintained, the buffet had good choices and service, Alux (a la carte) was excellent. Being able to book all of the a la carte restaurants before hand was a bonus. They were fully booked by the time we got there. The trips to the beach and the other resorts were a breeze. Rides were short. They could get confusing so make sure you ask the driver where they are going. The only complaint I have is that the wifi connection was very very slow and spotty. Some days I had connection while my husband didn't and vice versa. And some days we both didn't. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone.

Great resort! Having this resort 18+ was an excellent choice for us. First reaction, when entering the hotel, the staff was very pleasant. We arrive at 11:15 pm. we were serve with alchool but for second drink we have to go to the snack bar 24hrs... because the lobby bar closes at 11:00 (in fact every bar on the resort close at 11:00 only the snack bar. This is kind of a disappointment.

The hotel room is very clean, didnt find any bugs... :) the beach: We had a reserved area on the beach for the Sian Ka'an guests about 300 feet of great beach the sand was nice but walking along the beach towards other resorts (coba, tullum) the beach was a bit rough (i.e. a lot of broken seashelf and rocks) hard to walk without shoes.

Shows: they have shows in every resort except at the Sian ka'an and they dont advertise it in are resort.. we recommand the Michael Jackson show... the best show of all.

Buffet was very good compare to the other resort (akumal). A la carte reserve early (online if you can) hard to have a reservation, only book one restaurant! they have 11 restaurant a la carte a lot of variety but reserve early, good thing the buffet have a lot of variety...

At the main buffet, in the Sian Ka'an resort, during the day, we were welcomed by a great server, she always went out of her way to satisfy her clients. we were overwhelmed by her service compare to other.. Thank you Mirian Magaly for a great service.,

At the pool bar, Jesus was an amazing bar tender... busy at that pool, was very impressed on his work. we never waited for a drink...thank you Jesus!!!

Edna was the great entertainer at the pool, she always gathered the crowd for various activities and she has a great voice...

Lobby bar: Thank you Lauro for bringing to us "cacahuates" and remembering are favorite drinlks with no lemon :)

Very nice trip!!!

We went to the Mayan Riviera from Feb. 2nd to 18th, it was our first trip to Mexico. We stayed at the Luxury Sian Ka'an, the newly adults only resort, which is part of the Gran Bahia Principe resorts. We were a bit put off at first, because we kept comparing it the the Luxury Ambar in Punta Cana, but once we stopped comparing and looked at it as it's own property, we started to enjoy ourselves. The weather was amazing!! 30-35 degrees for the whole two weeks we were there. The Sian Ka'an is a beautiful, clean resort, which is situated adjacent to a golf course, therefore, it is not directly on the beach. The rooms are quite modern, but clean. Since it is set in the jungle, there are often spiders that come into the room while they are cleaning, especially if you are on the lower floor, because they leave the door open. Because of my husband's allergy to spider bites, we addressed this with Vanessa, one of the public relations staff and she arranged to have our room fumageted right away. She also left us her OWN can of Raid for us to use in our room. She is an AMAZING public relations officer, who will do anything for you, with a beautiful smile. The rooms are kept clean and there was a new towel art on our bed, each day!! As i mentionned before, Sian Ka'an is not directly on the beach, but they do have golf cart transportation to take people to the beach and other resorts. The first week there, this was not an issue, but by the second week, it got really old. Once at the beach, it was great!! The section that is reserved for the Sian Ka'an guests is the best on that strip of beach, as long as you don't mind looking at the huge sand bags that they have in the ocean, to stop the errosion of the beach. The staff are constantly cleaning the beach. The servers are always pleased to bring you drinks, especially Laydy, who always had a smile on her face. We spent most daytime hours on the beach, because of the time it took to travel to and from (about 10-15 minutes). The pool at Sian Ka'an is rather quiet and at times, we felt like we were at a retirement home or a quiet spa. When the games started, at 3 pm, it got a bit more entertaining, but someone complained about how loud it got, so they moved the games to another pool, further down. The thing we missed the most was: NO SWIM UP BAR at Sian Ka'an!! Adults only resorts ALL need swim up bars!!! The servers were good at their jobs, but they were painfully understaffed. At the buffet, Jonathan was the best server there, but he was SO busy!! Being a guest at Sian Ka'an, you had the ability to come and go to all the other sister resorts, Akumal, Tulum and Coba. That meant spending more time riding the golf cart transportation, across a bridge that went over the highway. The food was good, no complaints there, whatsoever!! Delin is probably the best server, he works at the Japenese restaurant named Maiko, which is at Sian Ka'an. Chef Jesus befriended my husband on Facebook before we got to Mexico, so when Delin told him we were there, he came out to greet us with a wonderful smile and a big hug!!. The shows, were just ok, they tried hard, but they seem to just go through the motions and it was always too loud. There were now shows and no night life at Sian Ka'an after midnight. If you wanted entertainment in the evening and at night, you had to travel to the other resorts. The disco is situated at the Hacienda, on the way to the Tulum resort. All that being said, my only complaints about the place is the time spent travelling back and forth, across the highway and the quietness of the resort. If you are prepared for all that, you'll have a great time!!

We stayed here from March 28 till Aoril 4th. This was our 4th trip to the Riviera Maya at an all inclusive. We had done extensive research on Trip Advisor, and all of our expectations were met.
We had originally emailed ahead of time and Brisa was fabulous. She responded promptly and made all our reservations for our alacarte selections.
We had a penthouse jaccuzi suite, all I can say is Wow. Spacious, clean, lots of closet space, we used the available shelves and did not have to live out of a suitcase. Ask for a mattress topper, makes the bed much more comfortable The only complaint I have is that the king size bed is on the short side, I am 6'1" and my feet hung off the end by a fair amount.
Meals were very good. The buffet at all three meals was excellent. Fabulous meal at Alux with excellent service. Mikado was very good as well. The show table at Maikado was quite enjoyable.
I don't know why people complain about the trolley. We never had to wait for more than 5 minutes and they always asked where we were going and made sure we got on the right trolley.
All the staff, including everyone we encountered at the front desk were very friendly. The Management team are always on top of everything. They don't miss a thing.
The main lobby bar makes the best Margarita's of all the 4 resorts. All the people we met were great, escpecialy the Sudbury Group.
The bar service at the beach was great. The waitresses worked extremely hard and our drinks were always full. I guess people who complain must have personal butlers at home.
About the only area that could use some improvement is the nightly entertainment.
I could go on and on, but do yourself a favour, go check it out yourself. This is definetly a cut above!
