A big thank you to Brisa, and everyone else at the resort for making my first visit to an all inclusive spectacular. Both my boyfriend and I were ad to leave on Friday (so much so that we inquired on extending our stay!). The service, rooms, food and activities were a ton of fun. There are many other posts on the forum that describe (with much detail) what you can expect from the resort. I simply wanted to say a big thank you to everyone there and also say that we will certainly be returning:) Gracias!!

Room Tip: We were in villa 9A. very close to the pools, Alux, the snack bar and the lobby. the garden patio...

We chose the GBP Sian Ka’an for our first trip to the Riveria Mayan to celebrate our 40th anniversary from Apr. 25 till May 2 and were totally impressed with the complex.
First off, my wife and I cannot see how a few people were so down on this resort, they seem like people who would not be happy anywhere. The workers, the staff and the management far exceeded our expectations. The only minor negative point came when we went to an “a la carte” on one of the other restaurants in the complex where the service was not as good. The food was good, not the service. The two “a la carte” at Sian Kaan( Alux and Maiko) were two of the best outings we have had. The staff was excellent as was the food.
The waiters at the buffet, especially Blanca, Faustino, Hugo and the Omelette lady chef were exceptional and were always working to keep up with the guests needs. We cannot emphasize enough how professional these people are. All the employees greet you cheerfully and cannot do enough for you.
Our room was a penthouse suite and we were very happy with our choice as the evenings in the Jacuzzi with a couple of drinks, looking at the stars was a tremendous way to unwind from touring, golfing, shopping and the heat of the day.
We enjoyed the beach and realize the function of the “whales” in the water, without them there would be no beach. It also makes it safe for the young and un-experienced swimmers plus it gives a nice calm area to lounge in. We never had trouble finding beach chairs under a cabana very close to the Sian Ka’an section. The only difference that we saw is we had to get our own drinks where the Sian Ka’an section had a very busy waitress, but we were on a beach, not at a bar.
We went to Ek Balam, repelled into a cenote, visited Tulum, played a round of golf and visited 5th ave. in Playa Del Carmen and enjoyed all of them.
Security is a key issue for the resort guests.
We cannot finish this review without mentioning Brisa Islas who helped us set up our itinery at the Sian Ka’an so that when we arrived everything we had requested was completed and handed to us as we registered, her professionalism did not go unnoted.
Would we recommend the Sian Ka’an. YES!!!!!!!!!! Without hesitation.

I am 28 years old and have been traveling to Cancun/Riviera Maya yearly since I was 16. So far, this is my favorite all inclusive resort. Where to start?... I traveled with my boyfriend and stayed for a week. After a disastorous flight (copilot for original United Airlines booked flight did not show so our flight was completely changed) we were completely exhausted and eager to begin relaxing. The commute from the airport was about 2 hours long BECAUSE we decided to save money and use the shuttle service. Round trip service was $160 pp via shutlle pick up and drop off. As soon as you enter the open air lobby you feel like you're in paradise. The breeze is magnificent and they automatically greet you with frozen margaritas. The employees there are all kind and seem to be VERY HAPPY, which was what we needed.
Our penthouse suite was everything you would expect. It was two levels, second floor included a rooftop deck with jacuzzi and lounge chairs. This was the first time we stayed in a penthouse suite so of course we were beyond amazed. Everything is super clean, nothing seemed old or rusty.
The food is probably the best part about this resort. Everything was fresh and delicious. We didn't like the Japanese restaurant, wasn't authentic and we decided to skip the French place because we liked the variety at the buffet. Everything offered at the Japanese restaurant was available at the buffet.
I thought I was going to be disappointed that we weren't directly on the beach but the trolly ride was nice and they were always available. It was cool having an exclusive area on the beach with wait service. The drinks were awesome. The beach was clean and well managed. You do have to get there at least before 10 if you want a palapa and beach chairs in the exclusive area. We ate lunch in a restaurant on the beach (I think it was apart of the Coba resort) and it was great.
The pool was excellent and never cold. Entertainment staff were cool and did not harass you. They always greeted you and asked you kindly if you wanted to join in the activities.

Overall awesome stay and we were sad to leave. Plus we only paid $850 for flight and hotel stay, seven days booked by Expedia. Is that an awesome steal or what?

Room Tip: We stayed in the Penthouse Suite located in the rear (1621). It was the perfect location if you pref...

This is an excellent resort with a proximity to a golf course. The resort is not on the beach but there is a short cart ride that passes by every few minutes. Service is very professional the people at the resort never stop working. They seam to really enjoy the work that they do. The food is amazing. The only downside for us was that the beach area is very small. The unlimited towels do not help since people just reserve chairs and never show up to the beach. Rooms are good, pools are nice, drinks and food amazing. We would go back to this resort and suggest it to our friends and family.

This is our third time staying at the Gran Bahia Principe Collection. We have been to GBP Esmeralda in the Dominican Republic and GBP in Jamaica, and now, we just came back from the GBP Sian Ka'an Mexico where we stayed for 7 days.

In our previous vacations, we have always traveled with our teenaged kids and always had to ask for adjoining rooms which we always were lucky to obtain. This time, as we traveled on our own, we decided to stay at the "adults only" resort in Mexico Sian Ka'an. We had the tram to drive us around the three other resorts similar to the joined resorts in Punta Cana in the Dominican. the tram passes every 10 to 15 min to take you to the other 3 resorts. As privilege members, we can also call our own privilege cart service. Most of the times though, the normal carts would come faster than the privilege service carts. Maybe if carts were spread out and always parked outside the entrance of the 4 resorts instead of a central dispatch center, then the long waiting for the privilege service would be avoided.

We were given the Junior superior garden suite, which has the jacuzzi on the ground floor. We asked through email like a month before our flight for a penthouse suite but we were told to ask them upon arrival, a week prior our departure we asked again but I guess they were really fully booked because even the day our arrival at the Privilege lounge at Coba, we were informed that they still don't have any available penthouse rooms. We arrived at the resort Saturday, so Miluska who was in charge of us at the Privilege Club said they will keep trying during the week. In the end, we never used the jacuzzi anyway because it was just great to spend the time at the pools at Coba and Akumal. Besides, the beach of the resorts has the best beaches we have ever been to compering these three BP resorts. White sand and lots of fish swimming around us in a natural setting. It was lots of fun!

Two suggestions we can provide regarding our rooms? First, the room needs some type of drawers other than the two small night table draws so that you can put your stuff since there was none in our suite. We have to leave our clothes in our luggage for the entire week that we stayed there, except hanging some of my evening dresses I needed for night dinning.

Secondly, maybe for women more than men who usually don't care, would be to provide a full length mirror. There is one hanging above the bathroom sink which was way up too high, not even my husband who is 6 ft tall could see his waist. So it didn't really serve it's purpose as a full length mirror, There was another mirror out in the main sitting room but it was there for decoration purposes only.

Other than that, shower is huge, hot water is abundant and our bed is always nicely done. Our chambermaid was very good and trustworthy. We always left him a 5$ daily tip, but when one day we forgot to close our safe prior to leaving our room, he did the right thing, informed security about it. Nothing was missing. We even left cash, credit cards, iphones, ipad and jewelry in the open safe, it was all left untouched. The tip we left for him for the day supposedly was left in the room likewise, the next day when we left, we dropped him a thank you note and 25$ as his tip a menial token of appreciation thank you once again Efrain.

Music Lounge - it was great, live music band playing every night, karaoke etc...If you usually go to sleep early, then try to get some rooms after the 4th or 5th villas away from the main lounge. Our room was at the 40504 and so we could hear the band clearly one night that we went to bed a little bit early.

Restaurant - the Alux restaurant, food was very good. We enjoyed the Mayan coffee being prepared right in front of us. We never took coffee in any other resorts because coffee was not the best so this was the only resort we have been drinking cappuccino. The yal-ku buffet at the Sian Ka'an was perfect. It was huge and food all fresh and yummy. We enjoyed all the other a la carte restaurants in the Coba ,Akumal and Tulum the rest of the week.

We visited the 5th avenue at Playa del Carmen because we were told that it was safe for us to do some shopping there. So, we took the colectivo which is a public transit outside of the resort we paid like 5 or 8 dollars on way versus a Taxi which is about $30, but decided to go back to the resort with the cab as it was getting late for our diner reservation. We found the jewelry shops expensive and some stuff are more expensive than the prize at the Hacienda Shops within the resort.

The beach - being at Sian Ka'an, we have our own beach area but if you go after 10 am, you won't find any beach loungers chairs available. The advantage of being a privilege member is that we have our exclusive beach area where the beds and chairs were very comfortable and available. We have our exclusive beach bar too, great drinks and great bartenders, like Javier. He attended to whatever we needed. Unfortunately, we were not able to meet Freddie.

What we enjoyed so much was the swimming with the dolphin excursion. It was an unforgettable experience. All in all, the experience was great and we will go back again.

A big thanks to Miluska, Ana, Karla, Armando,Eduardo and our chambermaid Efrain for making our vacation one of the best.

We went to mexico April 13, 2013 for my husbands 50th birthday with a few friends and decided to try an adult only for a change. The Resort is beautiful and very peaceful and if you are looking for relaxation this definatly the resort for you.

We upgraded our room to the penthouse suite and to be honest we did not fully utilize our room because we where always on the go.
The room itself was spacious, and very comfortable. Upstairs you have your own balcony with hottub "to be honest there is no privacy" but, its still a nice extra to have.
The food was great I would have no complaints about any restaurant we tried and there was
always plenty of food.
For those that are not aware Sian Kaan is not on the beach but, if you are like ourselves we
do research our vacation and we were fully aware of this fact prior to going "unlike a few people
that stood around complaining"
There are shuttles that run constantly back and forth from the four joined resorts Akumal, Tulum and Coba and Sian Kaan as well as the hacienda located in the middle of everything and they also run to the beach. I do not believe we ever waited longer than 5 mins for a shuttle and they are clearly labelled at the front of the cart for there destination.

Drinks where great lots of different options and the selection has something for everyone.

This resort again is very quiet but, if you wish to participate in a more lively atmosphere a simple 5mnin shuttle ride will put you in the middle of pretty much anything your heart desires.

The beaches where clean and we experienced some very nice snorkling at the resort as well
as at Akumel beach to see the turtles.

Overall this was a very nice resort and I would not hesitate to return at a later date.
Just and FYI my husband who has constantly pointed out he does not wish to go to the same
resort twice even commented he would return.

We enjoyed our stay at the BGP Sian Kaan. The workers there are ALWAYS busy away cleaning or making people feel welcome. Front desk was awesome - shout out to Brisas/Claudia for exceptional service and professionalism. The servers Demetrio, Rosalinda (bar), Jose were very good to us. The animation staff also worked very hard to keep people active so kudos to them.

Rooms were very clean and modern (Villas 16-20 are the best imo). Pools were cleaned daily and immaculate.

The buffet in our opinion was the best food in the complex the entire stay and actually cancelled some of our reservations just to eat at the buffet. Alux had the BEST ala carte service by a mile but the food surprisingly didn't meet our tastes/liking. Don Pablo had the BEST ala carte food (taste wise) but the worst service out of all the a la cartes we tried.

Overall we give this resort a solid 4 out of 5 stars. In our opinion it's the best site in the GBP complex despite being away from the beach (trolly is part of the experience and not far travel wise to the beach).

Some minor improvements likely to make it a leading 5 star level, but all in all very much worth the value for what we paid.

Room Tip: Villas 16-20 are the quietest and furthest from activity. Take the collectivo to PDC and Akumal beac...
