It's really family hotel with all-inclusive system. It is situated in jungle forest with different zones and different animals (ant-bears, raccoons, iguanas and etc.) walking around , what could be interesting for both children and adults. You have opportunity to use infrastructure (lobbies, bars, restaurants) of other 3 hotel which are situated on one territory. The hotel have very nice beach. Food is rather good. A lot of people from Canada come to this hotel.

This is our 2nd visit to Mexico having stayed 2 years ago at the Grand Bahia Akumal which we loved but always like to try other hotels. Everyone has so many expectations and different opinions on standards and quality. These are our thoughts.
Check-in - we had a 7 hour delay at Gatwick so did not arrive until almost 23.00. A welcome drink would have been nice and someone to meet us, but we were literally left to check ourselves in, however to be honest this would be our only negative comment, because we then experienced a fantastic holiday and great service from the staff.

We stayed in Colonial (block 5). The rooms are dated but discreet renovations are beginning in block 1 so work is on going. Our room was clean comfortable and well equipped for our needs. Mini bar re stocked with plenty of refreshments. The beds are actually very springy and pillows quite hard but after a couple of nights we adapted and had no issues sleeping.
Pool areas are clean and lovely. We especially liked the pool at Riveria. Lots of activities run by the sports team to join in or just pass the day relaxing. Our only wish is that people showed some respect and did not leave drinks lying around the pool area. The staff worked so hard to keep everything clean but the behaviour of some guests leaves a lot to be desired.
Beach was beautiful and gives a lovely cooling breeze. We swam but also snorkelled around the coral area and managed to see 10 tiny baby turtles. Amazing!
We were restricted to eating in the buffet restaurants as our travel company had not made us aware of the strict long trousers policy for men. Can consideration please be given to relaxing this rule and allow smart short trousers? We really missed out on trying the other restaurants and found this very disappointing as we heard some great reviews. Management team we appreciate the need for a dress code standard but with the heat and comfort factor this needs to be reviewed. That said the food standard in the buffet restaurants is good and if people experience upset tummies again this is not due to the hotel but the poor standards adopted by other guests (several seen leaving toilets with unwashed hands). None of us were ill.
One of the party had to use the medical services and they were very helpful and professional and issues were resolved quickly.
There is nightly entertainment in Colonial and Riveria. We loved the Tuesday night sports entertainment team ( very funny but also some very skilful acts) but overall the standard of entertainment is very good. It must be very hard to cater for the international guests at the hotel and we felt the shows were some of the best we have seen.
We visited Chichen Itza ( a long day travelling) but so,worth it. Vicky and Eric thank you for looking after us. You managed to keep a 15 year old interested in history! also did Xel - Ha and Xplor (fear of heights conquered on the great zip wires). Loved both days.
Overall we cannot fault our holiday. Lee was a good rep. We had excellent service from staff who worked incredibly hard across the 4 hotels. Yes we will def return in the future and no we have no doubts recommending this hotel to our friends.

We just returned from the Grand Palladium and it was great! A beautiful property built right into the jungle. Some things to understand:

1. This place is massive. Huge. It's own little city. To me this means that you can do something different every day or just stay put. We were in Villa 3 in Colonial which is close to the lobby and a bit of a walk from everything else. The walking was good for us, it helped us to work off some of those meals and drinks. This may not be the place if you are not mobile. There aren't any elevators in the villas and the walkways can be a bit bumpy.

2. The Colonial is beautiful but it is a bit tired. Our room was extremely clean but run down. Luckily renovations have begun and they are working on Villa 1 first. You can barely tell that there is work being done. I knew about the renovations before I booked so I was prepared. Honestly, though, it wasn't that bad. It was in line with the other places that we've stayed in Mexico. The cleaning people are great. Talk to them if you need something. I'm not sure why but we have noticed that in a lot of the resorts in Mexico we are always short on towels.

3. Food was all around good. I'd say above average. The buffet at the Colonial at breakfast was great. The employees all work so hard. Please understand that there are a couple of hundred people at once all trying to be served. It is my experience that a smile and a couple of nice words go a long way. The ala cartes are good too. Our favorites were the steak house, the Italian, and the Mediterranean. Biggest complaints? It's hot in there! And the dress code which deserves it's own paragraph.

4. The dress code is ridiculous. Men and boys over 12 are forced to wear long pants while women and girls can wear whatever. We say many girls that were wearing shorts so short that their butts showed. We saw women wearing super casual wear. I simply don't understand this. Even the cruise industry has been changing dress codes due to most wanting to be casual (and cool) on their vacations. Why not change to nice dress shorts and a short sleeve shirt?

5. The grounds are amazing. Pools, sunbeds, and bathrooms are all super clean. We even witnessed Mexican work teams cleaning up seaweed from the beach. We usually went to the Colonial beach which is sandy and great for swimming. They have two huge inflatables that the kids can play on. The main pool is deep. Kind of hard to navigate with drinks from the pool bar.
The adults only pool is quite and calm and beautiful. There are many places to hang out.

6. Do not feed the animals. One day I saw a group of people standing between two "don't feed the animals" signs all feeding the animals. Really? Another day I saw a guy bullying an iguana. Many people fed the fish bread. Not only is that bad for the fish the rest of us have to swim in a bunch of floating bread crumbs. Ick.

7.If you do have gripes you can relax with a glass of wine at dinner. At no extra charge. Just ask your waiter for white or red.

8. The entertainment teams works hard to keep everyone happy. If you get tired of the action at the pool there are lots of places that are quieter.

9. We had an amazing time and will go back. If you are considering this property please do some research. (I guess you are if you are reading these reviews). And don't let the little troubles bring you down. This place is a great place to relax and explore. A great vacation!

Room Tip: There aren't any elevators. You will have to walk up the stairs but the bellmen will bring and t...

Had a fantastic holiday here in march we were upgrade to a suite which was lovely all of the al la carte restaurant were excellent in fact we only went to the buffet twice in 14 days. The baby club was great for our grandson who was 20 months old at the time in fact he took his first steps there. The hotel was spotless . The only issue we had was with the reception who did have a bad attitude on check I and check out but we refused to let this spoil our holiday . We have booked to go to the grand palladium dominican republic and hope that this hotel will be equally as good next year.

just got back from a fabulous holiday stayed at the colonial decor a bit dated but perfectly clean and the bathroom was lovely lucky enough tobe on the top floor so had a good vew from our balcony can imagine if on lower floors view restricted by trees but then again you are in the jungle. one of our party who celebrated their anniversary while we were there got free upgrade and a lovely bottle of champagne so it always worth mentioning when booking if there is a specil occasion. Food really good in all ala carte restaurants although men remember to take long trousers they are very strict on this rule although it does seem unfair that women can wear what ever the want. resort is huge and you can wait for little trolley buses that go throughout the resort but its much more fun walking seeing all the wildlife and finding short cuts. Beach fabulous always plenty of sunbeds at beach and round the pools dont need to bring beach towels thy are supplied and you get clean and fresh ones everyday. Staff very friendly and always said hello bar staff brilliant the amount of drinks the girls hold on one tray is something to be seen Once again fabulous holiday will definately be back

Room Tip: colonial rooms seem quite central to everything

We had a fantastic holiday but I would not describe the Colonial lobby or the Colonial rooms as 4-5 star accommodation. The lobby and our two rooms were old and tired and in drastic need of re-furbishment. The other areas especially White Sands seemed much better especially the lobby areas and the rooms we went to see when we complained and tried to upgrade (neither successful as hotel relatively full). Staff are excellent. Some of the bars need more staff. Restaurants not bad but if you like wine with your meal you will have to buy it. Booze very average so if you like quality and not quantity (our preference) then you will be disappointed unless you pay the Royal Suite premium prices as they get better choice. The hotel as everything to fit all tastes. The pool and beach choices allow you to go quiet areas or lively areas depending on your preference. Excursions are very costly especially if you are a family of 4 or more. Each trip will set you back about £400.00 each.

Room Tip: I liked the rooms in White Sands blocks 54, 55, 56, 57. Good location in middle of the resort. Don...

My family and I just got back from our stay at the Grand Palladium, everything was great! The Japanese Restaurant hibachi grill was great! need to stand in line by 7:30am (concierge desk opens at 8am ) to book reservation for the next evening, it books up fast we got a 530 reservation, but well worth it! Second favorite restaurant was the Mexican Restaurant waiter was great brought us a Tequila Boom Boom shot which was really yummy, shrimp dish was delicious.

Beach was nice white sand, nice breezes, not to crowded, we did go out early to get shaded chairs, pools are really big and water is great, water does get warmer in the afternoon from the sun. We walked to the salt water pool but did not go in it very secluded and not may people very nice. It is true the resort is really big there are walk ways through the forest area that take you to different parts of the resort which is cool can get confusing, they have a train car that takes you lobby to lobby comes in handy when you dont want to walk.

The only problem we had was we booked through Miami Vacation Store because they some how use the Grand palladium name in the web page and it comes up before the Grand Palladium Hotel Group which is main web site. Anyway the upgraded us to a Jr suite because the ran out of the standard rooms which was great. But when we got there and checked the suite was in the Riviera Resort rooms 6709 and 6711 of the Palladium which was the furthest Villa's from all 4 of the resort lobbies which is were everything is all the bar and restaurant and pool. No beach near by. These suites are more for couples with the big tub in the middle of the room, not for a family with teenage kids. We asked to be move to the Colonial which is what I originally booked they moved us the next day, but beware if you change rooms you have to be out of your room by 12 and cant get in the new room until 3pm. The new room was perfect and comfortable and we loved the rest of our trip!
