Brilliant (25 Aug - 09 Sep 12). Won't go on as most issues have been covered in previous reports. Just a few practical points for visitors:

1. We took jungle formula deet but be advised this is not sufficient if you are susceptible to mosquito bites. Buy the yellow mosquito bands from your 'Rep' on arrival. We were told that the mozzies were more of a problem than usual.

2. Don't bother taking a hair dryer or straighteners as the hair dryer in the bathroom is more than sufficient.

3. Only take flat shoes as you will not be able to walk along the wooden walk ways connecting villas with lobbies in heels.

4. This place is huge but please use the land trains or buggies available at no cost.

5. Please don't miss out on the Spa. Take a look on day one. It has amazing free facilities (less massages).

6. The safe will take a laptop, digital SLR camera, purses/wallets, jewellery etc. you chose your own 6 digit code (safe as houses).

7. A la Cartes get busy after 8pm. A pager will be given to you if they are busy. Go and get yourself a drink until your table is ready.

8. Dont feel obligated to tip, but 20 peso's here and there I am sure is appreciated by the hard working staff. A special mention for Lucy the waitress in the Colonial Lobby Bar, she works extremely hard.

9. Do your own trips to, Akumal, Tulum Ruins, Xel-Ha on the collectivo outside the hotel. It will save you a bomb, and it is perfectly safe.

10. Best regards to the Mansfield girls. Hope you kept feeding 'Iggy' when we left.

11. Book this hotel as you will not be disappointed. Our best holiday ever, we didn't want to leave.

Room Tip: Any room will do. We stayed in block 51 room 5115. There are plenty of short cuts everywhere from yo...

just had 2 weeks at this resort.Great place.food is good staff are friendly(usually because they want tips)but be warned they are very biased towards spanish speaking guests. If you stood at the bar and try to order drinks if they know you are not spanish speaking they tend to pretend that they dont see you there.VERY annoying. The pools are as good as they look and the beaches are very clean. Also the rooms are cleaned every day and are spacious. Also be warned about the reps trying to sign you up for timeshares they are persistent but if you go to the meeting you get the equivelant of £50 worth of vouchers to use against day trips without buying anything off them.(2 hours sales pitch but £50 is £50)I recommend the japanese restaurant its amazing. So if your going here you will have fun and it is worth the money.Take lots of mozzie repellant though.Happy travels

I travelled to the Grand Palladium Kantenah in May 2012. Came back VERY impressed. The beach near our room was quiet, beautiful and had hammocs. Paradise. The rooms are very simple but comfortable and spacious. We were on the first floor and didn't see any bugs. The A/C worked well and the room didn't smell like humidity. Always very clean and no problem getting towels. Food was good. The restaurant on the beach at WhiteSands I think was absolutely delicious. I loved that the crowd was so diversified (UK, Russia, a lot of locals,...). I would not hesitate a second before going back.

Went to this hotel on 5th July 2012. I was a little worried before i went because of previous reviews. I can honestly say that i enjoyed it very much. The maids always ensured that we had clean towels and toiletries. The food wasn't brilliant in the restaurant but the specialist restaurants were great. My husband has never eaten so much steak, so tender. The drinks provided at this resort were all branded names and you could drink champaign from morning till dusk if you wanted to. The only downside to this complex was the entertainment, but to be honest by 10pm ready for bed anyway as early risers. For the money you pay this resort is excellent and wouldn't hesitate going back. You can always find something to eat as the sports bar provides pizza and steak sandwiches and you also have a 24 hour bar which also provides food. Thank you Grand Palladium and my friends for a very memorable holiday.

We visited Grand Palladium in Riviera Maya resort at the end of June this year (2012). I requested a building close enough to my other two friends families we were traveling with. They got standard room as there were a family of 4 each, while we got JR suit as we were 5 all together. I also requested 2nd/3rd floor. We got our room on the 3rd floor but not close to our friends. We were so far away from the lobby and our friends. It was a hick of a walk to get somewhere. We were in building 49. My friends were building 46 but do not let the number deceive you. Building 46 was between 43 and 44. The way they number their buildings is odd. The rooms were outdated but very clean. The entire resort was very clean. Everywhere you go at any time, there were workers cleaning or taking care of something. The pool at the Colonial resort was excellent. It was huge, clean, and very entertaining. There is always something going on, like dance lessons. The Beach at the Colonial too was wonderful. There was not much of rocks to talk about and the water was so clear you can see the fish swimming around you. We loved it. We visited the pool at the White Sands resort. Yes, it is only 4 feet which is great if you do not know how to swim or have kids but… it was boring (not much of entertainment) and not well kept like the other one. Needless to say we did not go again. Restaurants: that was a tough trying to get into one. First, the ones that need reservation, you have to be on line by 7:30 in order for you to get a decent time. And it is not for the same night, no, you need to reserve it the day before. Furthermore, they do not do well to accommodate a large party. Most of the time they would break our 13 person part to two groups with different times. The ones that you can go without reservation, unless you get there early (6PM) forget about it. We are talking about eating dinner around 10PM. We were only able to go to the Japanese (not so bad), the Steak house (did not like the steak), and Brazilian (that one I liked very much). So most of the time we simply went to the buffet. They did have different theme for the food but at the end it was almost the same line up. However, I had a bad experience in the Japanese one. we were seated with a Mexican family on the same table. The cook gave them all his attention and of a lot more food than us. we ordered the chicken and the beef Hibachi. They ordered the surf and turf one. So you would assume we will get more beef and chicken then they would but they got more than us + the seafood they got. Also, the cook reserved some of the beef and chicken for his diner. Please do not get me wrong, it was not about the food or amount. It was about the treatment you get if you are not a Spanish peaking person. You are sitting on the same table with someone else and they get a lot better treatment than you do and you are paying the same or even more. Also, one night my husband was not feeling well. So I took my kids and we went for dinner early, around 6/6:30 PM. All the restaurants would take a look at us (my 3 kids and I) and they tell us “sorry we won’t be able to accommodate you before 10PM. It was very odd as if they had a rule of minimum 2 adults per party to accommodate them. It did not happen when my husband was with me. May be because I was not speaking Spanish.
The entertainment at night was not so bad. It was a bit more family oriented then other resorts we were in. However, it was not a big deal. Please be advise, you “have to tip” even if you do not drink alcoholic drinks like me. You still have to tip. Otherwise, you are not get much of service. You are not getting refills for your coffee unless you get up, get the coffee pot, and pour it yourself. You will be ignored for a long time on the bars. Mostly you are not getting Mangos. Yes, you are not getting Mangos. You have to request it them from the gentleman in charge of the dining area. You will recognize him with a red shirt color and an ear piece. Even then you might only get one. while the table next to you gets 3 or 4 at a time. The exception to the rule “if you speak Spanish”. However, even with all that, I still enjoyed it. you just have to deal with these things as they come up and then forget about them.

ONE WORD OF ADVISE: Do not trust the people who are trying to get you to take the 90 minute time share. THEY LIE, especially a Canadian woman but I cannot remember her name. They promise you things like free massage and $100 voucher….etc. At the end you get NOTHING. Only if you fight with them do you get a $50 voucher for a 5 hour conversation.

One more advise, we used "Cancun shuttles" they were cheap ($125 for a round trip in a van up to 10 people), reliable, and honest. My friend son forgot his iPod and they returned it the following day.

Room Tip: Send an email and ask them for the nearest building to the lobby. My friends were staying in buildin...

The resort is huge but it is all walkable. Our room was large and very comfortable, the comp mini bar is re-filled daily, lovely towel art. The pools are constantly being cleaned and you could always find a sun bed. The bars were always busy but again you always got served fairly quickly. The al a carte restaurants are but the food could be served hotter. The buffet restaurants have so much choice its crazy and if you cant find anything then don't go all inclusive. The staff work very hard and are very pleasant. Lovely holiday.
