We spent 6 nights at Casa Gray and I couldn’t have been more please with our accommodations. It had all we asked for; a pool, beach, full kitchen, 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. When we got tired of hanging out at the house, Akumal was 15 minutes away and Tulum about 25-30 minutes. There’s even a little beach bar a few doors down if you want a drink and snack without venturing too far.
Jose and Marisol were there everyday, except Sunday, to take care of the pool, do the dishes and straighten up the house. They did a great job of keeping our chaos to a minimum and will even prepare a meal for you at a minimal cost.
The beach is a few steps from the pool and the sand is white with very few rocks unlike some other places in Akumal. If you’re looking for an escape away from the craziness of Cancun, this is the place to do it. We felt very safe and comfortable in all the areas around.
I have stayed at Casa Gray twice. It is a fantastic place to stay with the best beach. This house has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms in the main house. (An additional 2 bedroom/2 bath casita with a kitchen is also available for larger groups).
I love the beach and being able to snorkel right outside the back door. We saw schools of fish, several rays, and had a fantastic time! We also completely loved the pool and having the option of just hopping in to cool off. We used the kitchen and made a few meals to save money. Marisol came in every day and cleaned up. Jose was also great and super helpful.
The wind comes off the ocean to keep it cool and a/c in bedrooms if needed. Plenty of clean towels. Jose even cleaned all of our snorkel gear for us!
This house is a five minute drive to the heart of Akumal. We only went there to see the turtles early in the morning before the masses of tour groups roll in. It was great to escape back to the house and uncrowded beach area!
Loved all the nooks to hide away and read. Also, watching the sunrise from bed is pretty awesome! I loved the beach front balconies. We had some meals outside and some at the kitchen. Of course, we also went to the Bikini Beached Bar a few times which was cool and walking distance.
Rent it! You won’t regret it! The name of the area is Aventuras Akumal. Just an exit after Akumal...
My wife and I were trying to take our first vacation alone since we had our boys and a friend recommended we try a place they had used in Akumal, Casa Gray. We actually ended up going with two other couples and I can say everyone was thoroughly impressed! The house was fabulous with plenty of room for everyone and has everything you would need! There are amenities close by, whether you are looking for good food (Turtle Bay cafe for breakfast is a must) or hang out spots to get a drink, watch the waves, and listen to music over fresh fish tacos, it is all close by. There is a great golf course across the highway and even a casino. It wasn't overcrowded and our group had a blast at the blackjack tables.
While all this was nice, it is the backdoor oasis and personal beautiful pristine sandy beach that really stands out! The view is simply amazing and was so relaxing. We spent much of the day relaxing poolside, on the beach, and in the hammock as the waves rolled in. There was great snorkeling just 30-50 yards away and/or you could spend the day floating if you chose. Unlike some of the other nearby beaches (like nearby Akumal Turtle Bay) that tended to be a little rocky this area of beach seemed not to have that issue.
For me and my wife this was just the break we needed and next time we are in need of little piece of paradise, we would definitely return to unwind and relax.
