This place was very pretty. The water was very refreshing. They had a shower and changing areas. The spiral staircase down to the cenote was steep but they had diving platforms from the stairs if you wanted to dive into the cenote.

So you take this dreadful road from Coba, then turn off onto an even worse road for almost 2 km. You pay a guy something like $60 pesos each. Then you take the obligatory shower and walk down a tight spiral staircase about 7 meters underground, where you find a platform, big lights, and an amazingly beautiful pool of clear water, maybe 7 degrees F. cooler than the (incredibly warm and humid) air. Great swimming. When we went there we were almost alone!

Forget about handicap access, and if you aren't ok with taking a steep spiral stairway underground, then don't go. But if you want a bit of adventure, and want to get refreshingly wet doing so, then by all means go!

We visited the Mayan ruins at Coba in the morning and then wanted to cool off with a swim in a cenote. The guy working the booth at the ruins gave us directions and, in response to my query about which to go to if we could only go to one, recommended this one. It was a bit of a drive and the road wasn't kind to our car, but I wouldn't have missed this experience for anything. The worker at the cenote told us we had to shower first. Then we descended what seemed like a hundred wooden stairs. Don't even look at photos before you go because you'll ruin the surprise. It's just incredible - vast clear blue waters deep in the earth. I can see why the Mayans considered these sacred places.

Not much there except a hole in the earth with water in it. Glad I saw it, but wouldn't bother to do it again. Definately worth it once, but not twice.

I'm surprised to see so many good reviews of this cenote. I thought it was terrifying. I was also afraid our rental car's tires would puncture on the slow drive to this place (highly recommended by the men at the entrance to Coba ruins). It was hot, secluded, and we didn't see any other cars on that road or at the destination. When we finally arrived, we were told to wash off our sunscreen. We said we wanted to see the cenote first to see if we wanted to get in. The entrance was the size of a wishing well - maybe 4 ft. across. Then you had to descend winding wooden stairs and at the bottom, it was so dark, the water looked black. There were only a few faint lights and it felt claustrophobic. We left. Good place to film a horror movie!
