I have stayed here on a couple of occasions. The room was spotless, the food was good and a friendly staff with a beautiful beach. Doesn't get much better. I found a couple of more places to eat that were really good, one was big mamas, great burritos! Also, tapas bar for great drinks.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Mahahual. Clean nice rooms. Great patio bar and friendly service. Excellent location if you want to be in the heart of town. Walk right out onto the Main Street with shopping, bars and restraunts. .We stayed one night here before moving to our quiet home away from it all.

I would like to comment on the POSITIVE points during our visit to Costa Maya/Mahahual beach during our recent cruise ship stop on the NCL Jewel on March 7, 2014. This was our 3rd time to visit. This beach front was one of only few places that took some pride in cleaning up the beach and trying to attract some business. I want to shout out to our waitier "Alfonso Perez" he was wonderful and very helpful during our afternoon at their beach. He was always available when we needed something and made sure we were taken care of. Thank you for your service. The guacamole was the best ever along with our mega nacho platter that fed all 4 of us. We never ordered anything else after eating that. I did notice some other customers having other dishes that looked fantastic but after several beers we did not have the room. Maybe next time. Good Job! The Negative was how bad the Mahahual strip has really deteriorated since our last visit. It would seem there is no PRIDE in keeping the area clean or picked up. Even in the water we saw lots of trash which really turned our opinion negative about Costa Maya. At one time we would say this was one of our favorite spots to visit while on a cruise but now we don't even care to come back. Come on people - wake up and clean up! I don't want to spend my vacation money at a trash dump nor does anyone else. This does not mean everyone at Mahahual has no pride ony a few areas need to have more attention paid too them and it would be back to a lazy fishing village I remember we looked forward to visiting.

Room Tip: This was a cruise stop only. we did not stay overnight. no comment.

Noise level in this place is terrible. Hotel right on the beach and looks beautiful. We paid for a superior room which only means wasn,t on ground floor near kitchen and had tv. We are easy going people but this place was horrible, we both got up in the morning and said they are getting reviewed. At night we tried to go to sleep with chairs scraping continually above our room, all the noise echoed up from service area, this was at 10.30pm. In the morning we were woken up around5 to 5.30 with so much noise as they are no doubt getting ready for cruise ships. Kitchen, restaurant area getting ready,. Really do not bother staying here, the food was expensive for chewy sea food and pasta. We now have music booming at 7.30 from restaurant, they did have it loud at 6.30 but must have used common sense. Yep we did not have a good night sleep.

Room Tip: Don't stay above restaurant area, ground level near reception may have been better

We recently went to Mahahual and booked this hotel online in advance. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. We were greeted by friendly staff members and then taken to a very nice room (we paid for the superior room which only means that you have a queen size bed instead of 3 beds in your room and your bathroom is a bit bigger) and lucky for us we were given the only room that has a balcony and a small patio with a view of the water on the top floor. I think it was room #10. Our room was tastefully decorated and had sky TV (which we never used) A/C and hot water with pressure.
When you get your booking confirmation it tells you that you cant bring any food or drinks into the room. Sound advice...we brought a package of cookies into the room and by the next day there were ants crawling all over the place.
Overall we were very happy with our choice and the hotel's restaurant was great. We had breakfast and lunch there and the food was very good and the prices were very reasonable.

Room Tip: room #10 is the only room with a small terrace
