Kimbara was recommended to me by my hotel manager when I arrived in Mahahual after dark.
After 13 hours on buses from Placencia, Belize, was very hungry.
Food at Kimbara was excellent, people very friendly - right away felt at home in Mahahual.
Pleasant breeze from the beach, also great for breakfast and lunch.
Ate there many times, always highly enjoyable experiences!!!

We stayed in Mahahual for 14 days, had lots of plans to do in Mexico , but was very hard to leave the place. Lovely beaches especially Blue bay, was so clean turquoise water, quiet not build up truly paradise. Just perfect for 2 week break laying about doing nothing. First couple of days we try few different places for dinner and to be honest it was quiet disappointing, that food in Mexico not impress me at all. All seems to be bland lack of flavours and boring , until when we find KIMBARA!
From food and drink (Margarita to die for) to service absolutely brilliant .Lovely manager Agustin was very helpful big bonus he speak English so that make it easier , unfortunately I don't speak Spanish( try to learn for the next time) I always ordered what he recommend as he know the best :) including beer he recommend BOHEMIA and that is well tasty cerveza not like Sol or Corona so big Thank you for that :) and generally all the boys (waiters) were very friendly and make us feel welcome. There is no point waste your money else where KIMBARA tick all the boxes :)
So thank you again for taking care of us and we hope to be back soon.

We were in Costa Maya for one day on a cruise ship. We took the town bus (its called a shuttle)to the Mahahaul beach which is actually the edge of their town. Get off at the 1st stop. You will see Señor Frogs- don't eat there. Turn right on the boardwalk and walk down to the building with all the colorful flags blowing in the breeze. This is Kimbara Caribbean Cantina. We ordered quesadillas and fish tacos. Order one of each because the cabbage salad comes with the quesadilla and the pico de gallo comes with the tacos and they are both fresh and delicious. After we ate we walked back to Senior Frogs and hired a snorkel boat from Emile. His two men took us out to the reef in his little skiff for $30 a piece. We saw the cruise ship excursion guests on another skiff and they payed $69 a piece and were crammed 20 to a boat. We had our own boat. The snorkeling was great, lots of colorful fish swimming in schools, unique coral. After our snorkel we hired massages on the beach for $25 for 30 min. We walked along the boardwalk and shopped from the vendors but the good shopping was back in the area around the cruise ship dock. We had a wonderful time at this beach. We took a cab back to the ship for $2 a piece. We could see the ship from Mahahaul beach all day and felt safe that we would be able to return in time to make the ships departure deadline. Don't pay for a ship snorkel excursion in Costa Maya. Do it yourself.

We were in Mahahaul for 11 days, and the majority of our days in town at the beach were at Kimbara. We ate, drank, and lazied on the beach with the men who worked there taking care to keep our tummies full and drinks flowing. We were taking the PADI diving course next door and enjoyed the atmosphere and staff. Thanks guys for making us feel welcome and taking care of us!!

We stayed in Mahahual for 2 nights and discovered Kimbara by accident which was great luck. The service is warm and welcome, the best we had in Mexiko during our 2 weeks trip. Ask for their catch of the day. We had a very fresh fish lovely prepared. The ambience inside could have been more inviting, but that does not matter when having great food!!
