The hotel is within viewing distance to uxmal. You can see it from the great pyramid. The rooms have a balkon and you can see uxmal even at the first floor. The staff is very friendly and nice. The food in the Restaurant is Ok. The rooms are large and clean. Perfect for one or two nights.

After you turn into the Bates Motel driveway, replete with every possible size pothole you will enter a rather soulless Post-Modern Soviet-Style hotel, that if it were full of bus-tourists would be intolerable, BUT on certain off-days, middle off the week and low season you will find URM to be a good value for $70 usd tax included, no breakfast. Free parking and excellent free WIFI and a low rules environment, pool open 'til 10 pm etc. Smiling staff and hassle-free in and out.

We skipped the hotel restaurant/bar, skipped the 100 peso shuttle that takes you 2 km to the ruins, but enjoyed a good room, with nice balcony, super abundant smooth hot water and complete silence, as there was only us and another guest in the entire West wing.

Since there are no stores or non-touristy restaurant choices, take a 10 min trip into MUNA,
the next town up the road and get some EXXXCELLENT tamales behind the central square
across from WILLYS, buy a six paf of MONTEJO beer and sit in the park listening to 52,000 ravens settle in for the night. all that for much under $10 usd, then drive back to BATES RESORT
and chill.

After being at a busy Cancun All-Inclusive resort where I definitely felt like a number, it was great to arrive at this hotel where it was peaceful & relaxed. There were only a few others staying there at the same time but it was low season (end Sept).
The food was good & cheap. Had a great view of Uxmal (room was in centre of hotel, 2nd floor).
Guy at reception when we arrived couldn't have been nicer.
It would have been good to have had a fridge in the room, but that's my only negative comment.
Lay out one night on the bed/lounger by the pool & had a beer and looked at the stars - lovely.

Room Tip: We asked for a room with a view and were given one.

Our major problem here is they could have given us a better a deal on the room price but didn't. It was super quiet when we were there (we only saw one other room in use, a small family of 3 people) We were a "walk-in" without a booking and asked for their best last-minute price. They charged us the going rate of 800 pesos which is on their board and after we left the hotel I found out they have the same room for 600 pesos online. There was no reason whatsoever that they could not charge us the same price as the online rate or at least suggest we jump online and book that way to get a better price. The guy at the desk even watched us debate the cost as it was over our budget! A good receptionist would have advised us on the best rate possible and that is the difference between a good hotel and a great one. Do your homework before paying what they say is their "best price".

That being said, the hotel itself is quite good. The rooms are a good size, the beds are comfortable and sleep quality is very good. I like the all white bedding in the rooms (and the all white furniture in the modern lobby) it looks and feels clean. The bathroom was ok, it was a bit dated, but the shower pressure was good and the water was hot.

Lots of mosquitoes (its the jungle after all) so bring repellent!

Beautiful views to the jungle and Ixmal ruins from all areas of the hotel including the room. The curved building fits in well in the jungle and does not look offensive to the environment. The building's curved structure also means all rooms face the jungle so I don't think there is a bad room here. The pool area looks stylish and also blends in well with the surroundings.

5 peso breakfast was ok to average. Nothing special but did the job.

Also, thanks to the maintenance and grounds staff were super helpful when we needed to jump start our car in the morning!

Very nice hotel, The staff was great, my room was large and clean.
Uxmal ruins just about a mile away, the hotel provides drop off
and pick up from the ruins for a very reasonable price. The beer
was cold and the food ok.

My friends and I went in for lunch . It was a hub of activity only because there was a conference being held there for the weekend........ no other tourists.
We were asked if we would like the buffet at 175 pesos... we checked out the food surrounded by around 100 of the people from the conference, but it did not look appetizing so we hopped for the menu instead. But the waiter returned and said we could have the buffet for 145 pesos. But we still declined. The food was medicore in my view. My friends said there dishes of cerviche and pasta alfredo was O K . I had brocheta de pollo. It was O K until I got to the last bite of chicken and it was bad meat! The vegetables had a kind of lemony taste but I am sure lemon was not added , this told me the veggies were not as fresh as they could have been. As I mentioned we did not stay there but for me there was no ambiance , stark and clinical. No pleasantries were passed by the waiter, yes I do understand that they were busy but the waiter was not really that attentive, no buenas tardes or Hola!Would I go there again.... no I dont think so.

We just spent a night at this hotel while visiting the Yucatan and the ruins at Uxmal. Very nice for the price. Still in the finishing stages of a major remodel but only missing some furnishings, such as deck chairs etc. We were put on the first floor and like a couple of Cinderellas looked at two other rooms until we settled on the third floor with a fantastic view of the ruins and surrounding countryside. Margarita was working reception at the time and was incredibly patient and helpfull. The room was spacious and clean. Ask for deck chairs and you will get them. There is no elevator but that was not a problem for us. Breakfast was reasonabley priced, tasted good and was filling. We booked through Despregar for the first time and everything worked fine. Once they finish furnishing the common areas the place will be extremely comfortable and a great value.

Room Tip: Get a room in the center of the building at least two floors up for the views. For some reason we di...
