Hotel Tunich Beh
Reviewed 3 November 2013

I made a last minute two nights reservation by two quick and efficient email exchanges within an hour with Tunich Beh while in Cancun. Hotel administrator Rafael is perhaps the most friendly and accommodating hotel manager I've ever encountered. As previous review said, no deposit, no credit card number, no full payment up front, he simply handed me the room key with a warm smile upon arrival. The room is very clean, spacious and nicely decorated with a wonderfully quiet and efficient A/C in the room. The entire compound and the street where the hotel locates is very charming and relaxing. I used the nice pool in both days while staying there. This hotel made my two days stay in Valladolid and the visit to Chichen Itza very manageable and memorable. I highly recommend Hotel Tunich Beh. Thank you, Señor Rafael!

Tunich Beh is very well-located, minutes from the square but tucked away enough to be very quiet on the beautiful calle de los frailes. We reserved a couple of rooms and were pleasantly surprised by the trust the manager had in us, no deposit, no payment at check-in, no worries! Tunich Beh is basically 8 units located on a row beside a very nice pool in an interior courtyard. There is a parking for those traveling with rentals. A free breakfast with tasty coffee and fresh orange juice is served in the courtyard.
For the price we paid, I wasn't expecting much but was very pleasantly surprised by amenities like electronic safes, bottles of water in the room and tv with cable service. Just as I had read in previous reviews, the rooms were indeed very clean. The only improvement I could suggest would be better sheets, otherwise, no complaints!
Rafael is very pleasant and a good host. I would not hesitate to go back.

We enjoyed our three nights here. We had two rooms (second one for our teenage children) which were adjacent, so that worked well. Good location in the centre near the chocolate museum (and a tequila centre!). Quiet. Lovely pool with hammocks (and swing!) for relaxing after a hard days sightseeing (loads to do in and around this town). Breakfasts were nice, with eggs of your choice cooked by the table.

We enjoyed our stay at this little hotel in Valladolid. Our room was cleaned to perfection every day. Our boys enjoyed jumping in the swimmingpool after visiting the sightsin Valladolid. I have only one bad thing to say about this hotel. You'll need to like sleeping in very hard beds to fully enjoy it.

Very nice and quiet hotel in the center of Valladolid. Only 3 minutes away from the bus terminal. Lovely court yard with hammocks and pool. Great continental breakfast with fresh fruits, freshly squeezed orange juice, ham and eggs and lots more.

I thoroughly enjoyed my two night stay at Tunich Beh. It's a quaint, family-owned hotel with eight rooms, a pool, a lovely open air patio with hammocks and a friendly staff. It was easy to find and close to the bus station. The room was lovely and clean with a comfortable bed and air conditioner. Unlike my more expensive hotel on Isla Mujeres, a stay at Tunich Beh includes complimentary bottles of water in your room daily and a delicious breakfast with eggs cooked however you like them. Rafael was very helpful in finding good restaurants, things to do and whatever other information I needed. He even booked me a massage with Trinidad, a great massage therapist. Valladolid itself is a delight and a great location to leave from for a day trips to Chichen Itza and Ek Balam. There are vendors, a nice park, an old convent, a tequila-making tour, a cacao shop tour, a local history museum, good food, friendly residents, well lit streets, police directing traffic all around town and even a cenote within walking distance which is pretty impressive. I would definitely stay there again.

Hey folks!

Tunich Beh was my home for two nights, and I would consider this lovely place a nice pick. The spot is located in a small and quiet side street (by car a little bit tricky to access due to the one way system :-) ), but really a cute place with some hacienda flair.
The whole property is quite big, after passing the lobby "hall", you will pass a lovely colorful patio which offers plenty of quietness and hammocks under shady trees and then you finally access the breakfast (outside terrace with roof) and accomodation area.

Tunich Beh offers 6 rooms, very big and well maintained. Aircon + fan included, and just some steps away from the pool (serviced from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.).
Breakfast is included (toast, honey + jam, coffee, scrambled eggs, juice, cereals), the well maintained patio/pool area invites you to grab a book or just take a nap in the shadow.

The staff is super helpful (gave me a cell phone charger + some infos about Valladollid), be prepared to practise your spanish *g*

The hotels own parking lot is another bonus, the main square is in walking distance (5 minutes).
I would consider this place as a nice base for exploring Valladollid, Chitzen Itza, some cenotes and Ek Balam, + enjoying some cervezitas overlooking the main square.

Tunich Beh is not a five star hotel or a super duper luxury place (I don't understand why people complain about a poor breakfast, errhhhh?), but there is no need for this. For independent travellers on an average budget a very valueable choice.

I can definitely recommand this place.
