“Very nice and good price”
Reviewed 23 April 2014 via mobile

The building is very nice, they have a terrace with views of town and where they serve breakfast.
The room was big for two double beds. A bit dark because of the dark glasses on the windows, probably to avoid the sun and heat going in.
The pool was small but nice.
The room was clean and the a/c was working, though we had enough with the ceiling fan.
If the hotel is full the common areas get too small for all. Also the walls are thin and you can hear other guests on the common area.
They have a parking place.
Overall vera good price-quality relation!

The most amazing part of this little hotel has got to be the courtyard, which is just beautiful. It's all done in Mexican tile, with nice landscaping. I know it sounds odd for an interior courtyard to be landscaped, but this is, with ornamental plants in pots, a bit of grass around the pool, and it's gorgeous. They use antique furniture as accents and it's lovely. The pool is very nice and the room was spacious and very clean and quiet. I went up to the rooftop viewing area and was only a little disappointed that the hot tubs up there were not working at the time. However, it was the off season.
The desk clerks speak almost no English at all but we still managed to muddle along. After asking about laundry service, they arranged to have a local person pick up our laundry along with that from the hotel and it was returned to us the following day, clean, folded and neatly bundled, for a very small fee.
The only warnings I would give anyone about the Aurora are that those beautiful tile floors are VERY slippery when wet by a small child tracking in from the pool. Caution is definitely needed. Also, the hotel is not near any sort of restaurant, so if you plan on breakfast coffee, you had better be prepared to drive or take along some way to fix it yourself. Only water and bottled tea are available at the desk. Otherwise it was great. I would definitely make a return visit.

Not much to complain about. Good value for the money. Rooms are clean & spacious.
My hot water wasn't working and I don't even know if was included. The nights do chill down so if you are needing a late shower that could be a problem.
The interactive Tripadvisor map shows it in the wrong place which can make things very confusing if you are visiting for the first time and don't have a grasp of the town. I was upside down for most of the day!

Room Tip: I liked the second floor, overlooking the street with a little balcony.

We pre booked this on the basis of trip advisor reviews and were not disappointed. Basic but spacious rooms surrounding a lovely courtyard and pool. Well located in that its 5 min stroll to the central plaza. We were upstairs away from the traffic but closer to the roosters but that was fine.

Classic colonial style hotel, well priced with a fab swimming pool to cool off. Rooms are spacious and clean with hot water. We had little towel sculptures arranged on our bed daily!
This is a refreshing place to come back to after a day in the hot sun.
The rooftop has a modern sundeck with loungers and jacuzzi's - an added bonus!
I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel.
A top recommendation in my books.

We thought La Aurora was great. Rooms are around an interior court yard and with (wonderfully cool) tile floors, it is a bit echo-ey. However, we found that the sound of foot falls stopped by around 10 pm, and we slept very well. This is a classic colonial style hotel. We appreciated that all was well kept and very clean, with good hot shower and that there was a secure parking area. We stayed two nights on the way to Merida from Cancun airport, and actually returned for another night on our way back to airport. Really, for the price, we were very happy.
