“Nice place, lots of potential”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2014

The room was good and the AC fine. Shower was cold, though, the first two times we used it and even after having reported it to staff the issue still wasn't taken care of. Staff appeared to be non-chalant.

On the positive side, the location is perfect (2 blocks from main plaza and one block from a beautiful park with a great Italian restaurant). Rooftop terrace has some small jacuzzis. We did not take breakfast there--note that breakfast is not included.

Overall, if management/owners would put more work and maintenance into this place it could really be a gem.

This hotel had great ambiance. You walk in and it is entirely enclosed, all rooms facing the pool in a rectangle. The decor is nice, tile work is beautiful, and even had a TV. Water had to run about 3 minutes before it was hot (2nd floor corner.). However, because the set up has all rooms encircling the pool, the noise echos all around. The noise went on and on, and my husband couldn't sleep. He complained at midnight, and people left the pool, but not the pool area. The noise didn't die down until about 1:30. If that doesn't bother you, then you will love this place!

Room Tip: I would ask for a corner room.

This hotel offers everything you need. Descent clean rooms, good location, Nice pool and fancy rooftop hottubs. It is great to visie the Nice and cosy town Valladolid and to make Some trips. We stayed for three nights and did the flamingo tour with mexiGo tours.

My friend, my dad, and I stayed for just one night on our way from Cancun to Merida. The rooms were basic, yet clean and we loved how close we were to the town square, restaurants, a coffee shop, and Cenote Zaci (right in the heart of town). We had a wonderful dinner at Cafe Italia (five minute walk) and had a lovely breakfast on the rooftop before we checked out. It's a great place to stay if you want to visit Chichen Itza (and have transportation)...you can get there in less than a half hour and beat all of the crowds. The A/C worked well and we all got a good night's sleep. Would recommend to anyone but would suggest you spend a couple of nights.

Room Tip: there are no elevators so if you have heavy luggage or problems climbing stairs, you should request...

This is a basic hotel, with nice rooms. Sweet pool in the courtyard, and a lovely view from the roof top. The receptionist where not very fluent in english but we manage to compunicate in some manner. There are not to many english speakers in general in Valladolid.

The building is very nice, they have a terrace with views of town and where they serve breakfast.
The room was big for two double beds. A bit dark because of the dark glasses on the windows, probably to avoid the sun and heat going in.
The pool was small but nice.
The room was clean and the a/c was working, though we had enough with the ceiling fan.
If the hotel is full the common areas get too small for all. Also the walls are thin and you can hear other guests on the common area.
They have a parking place.
Overall vera good price-quality relation!

The most amazing part of this little hotel has got to be the courtyard, which is just beautiful. It's all done in Mexican tile, with nice landscaping. I know it sounds odd for an interior courtyard to be landscaped, but this is, with ornamental plants in pots, a bit of grass around the pool, and it's gorgeous. They use antique furniture as accents and it's lovely. The pool is very nice and the room was spacious and very clean and quiet. I went up to the rooftop viewing area and was only a little disappointed that the hot tubs up there were not working at the time. However, it was the off season.
The desk clerks speak almost no English at all but we still managed to muddle along. After asking about laundry service, they arranged to have a local person pick up our laundry along with that from the hotel and it was returned to us the following day, clean, folded and neatly bundled, for a very small fee.
The only warnings I would give anyone about the Aurora are that those beautiful tile floors are VERY slippery when wet by a small child tracking in from the pool. Caution is definitely needed. Also, the hotel is not near any sort of restaurant, so if you plan on breakfast coffee, you had better be prepared to drive or take along some way to fix it yourself. Only water and bottled tea are available at the desk. Otherwise it was great. I would definitely make a return visit.
