Valladolid has a lovely Zocalo, but surprisingly this the only place to sit down for a drink and watch the show. We had polite service, the prices were only a little higher than other places, and they let us sit for qs long as we wanted. I had a chelada (iced beer and lemon, in a salty glass) which was great - if the margaritas disappoint, try it.

On our way to Merida, we make a stop at this restaurant.
It was a good call!
It's real mexican food, their house made chorizo is excellent, waitress was charming.

Pros: - very good
- relaxing place

Cons: - none

For you vegetarian folks out there, you'll find a veggie sandwich that's pretty darned good. Fresh bread and vegetables (with cheese). Also, our order of guacamole was good. For you vegan folks, sorry, no dice.

We had margaritas as well and they were pretty good. They're frozen (blended) and the server confirmed that the ice was made of purified water (phew!). Normally, we prefer ours on the rocks, but we didn't get the chance to ask about that.

Perhaps our server was having a bad day, because he was inattentive and very short with us. Yes, we're gringoes and yes, we were speaking clear, polite Spanish. So i don't think this was a language problem.

Overall, go there for the proximity to the square and the buzz of being in town, but not for the service.

We enjoyed a couple cervezas at La Cantina one evening. Sat outside and watched that happening in the square. Nice little place to check out!

This place is great for watching the goings on in the square while having a drink and perhaps ordering anything but a sandwich. Where is the meat? Our sandwich literally had such a thin slice of meat we had to go in search of it to ensure it was actually there.

Service was fast, but that could be because it wouldn't have taken long to make our sandwich.

Again the other food may have bee better but stay away from the sandwich.
