“Clean, convenient and affordable”
Reviewed 23 January 2014

We moved into the hotel on our third night in Valladolid. It was well priced and close to the bus station (three blocks). The room was clean, decor slightly dated, but charming in a 1970s fake colonial way. We slept well, there was air conditioning, hot water and water pressure. The staff didn't seem to speak any English, but we managed on the little Spanish we do speak. The room's window opened to the courtyard and there was no safe in the room. For people who need security.... you might not sleep so well. The pool is small, but just what you need after a day exploring ruins (or visit one of the local cenotes).

Room Tip: You might want a room that is closer to the pool. Ours was right near reception and there was a fair...

This is our first visit to Valladolid & have fallen in love with the town & surrounding. Busy stores with people walking, riding bikes, with lots of shops. Lots of the same stuff but you have to look deep inside for that hidden treasure. The Mayan influence is prominent as well in the people. Can't wait to do some heavy shopping. Our room has a single & double bed perfect for two people. Our room on the second floor overlooks the pool & lush landscaping. Nicely appointed lobby with a very friendly staff to meet us. The rooms are very clean, hot water & comfortable bathroom and shower. It's economical, probably mid range but worth the value. Two thumbs UP!

Room Tip: We did not ask for an air conditioner fan was adequate with the window open.

By reading other reviews around the web is clear to me that if you get an accomodation in the upper floors the rooms are fine however if you end up on the ground floor near the reception you are up for an horrible stay. The picture on the booking sites are misleading as they don't show the room that you are getting... Dark, damp, mouldy, smelly, noisy, full of mosquitos and broken air conditioning unit!

Room Tip: Ask for upper floors room

Pros: Very clean room; firm and comfortable beds; good location; friendly staff, but think you need to speak Spanish if you need directions; quiet AC that works very well.

Cons: Need to cover floor drain in bathroom floor (under sink) to block odors (typical Mexican plumbing problem - use plastic bag w/pillow as weight); only ventilation is from windows opening onto the courtyard, which is an echo chamber, so don't plan on sleeping very late! One morning lots of hot water, other it was lukewarm. Shower curtain is not long enough, so yes, floor gets wet. Used hand towel for floor mat.

SO, good value for price, but a few drawbacks.

When I asked for blankets, the desk advised that they had only one and that I would have to sign for it. The bedspreads were thin and threadbare. There is no floor separation or adequate slope for the shower. Consequently there was no way to keep from flooding the entire bathroom floor when showering. When I asked for a bath mat or a towel to use as one, I was told that they wouldn't provide it. When I turned on the a/c , a cloud of dust was blown into my face and lungs. The hotel is in a good location with respect to the plaza. However, I cannot recommend this facility.

Room Tip: Take your own shower mat and blanket. Close your mouth when you engage the air conditioner.

Stayed there in December 2013. Room on the surface appeared clean but my bed had little white spiders crawling all through it....and the bed was like sleeping on a table with a sheet on it. Horrible. My TV had one channel only with no remote control. The toliet in the bathroom didn't flush properly and it smelt like sewerage. I had to walk into town to use the toliet one morning as I couldn't face the smell!!! All in all the hotel really marred my whole experience of Valladolid. I would not recommend this place at all.

Room Tip: A good tip is to just not go here.

Courtyard pool, sunny terrace, within walking distance to all the sights in town and very clean, and all that for 40$US per night is what i mean with great value. No onsite restaurant or bar, but everything is so central its a small matter of finding breakfast (Squimoz) or a watering hole nearby. Free parking at the back. Its not a homely get-to-know the owners kinda a place, but no reason not to go here.
