You can of course compare the size of the rooms, or the quality of the breakfast. But the big differentiator at Casa Hamaca are the people.
They really make you feel at home!

Next to that the rooms are impeccable and the Guesthouse is well situated near the centre of Valladolid.

Room Tip: The Stone Suite is really nice!

If you plan on visiting Valladolid (and you should!), this is the place to stay. We stayed in the Stone suite, a large room with a very relaxing vibe. Casa Hamaca is an excellent place to stay for a couple of nights.

We just returned from a 5 day stay at Casa Hamaca and enjoyed every day. Denis is the perfect host, knowledgeable, helpful and interesting. The rooms are immaculate and comfortable and the staff do a great job. Valladolid is a wonderful city and harkens back to the Mexico I traveled many decades ago. It is a safe and friendly town with many worthwhile sites and a great base for travel to Mayan Empire and Yucatan destinations. Within Valladolid itself, you can walk everywhere. Don't miss Casa de los Venados - one of the best private museums I have visited. In Valladolid you are geographically close to all the major vacation destinations like Cancun, but culturally you are transported to a special and real Mexican Colonial town with deep Spanish and Mayan roots. We plan to return for another visit to Casa Hamaca soon.

I agree with the consensus. Casa Hamaca is the reason we love bed and breakfasts. Immediately after arriving we felt at home. Denis was a great host and by the end of our one night stay we were friends. Denis really tailored his suggestions to our preferences and everything he recommended was spot on. Beyond Valladolid, his advice on which cenotes to visit and which ruins were not to be missed on our way to Merida, etc. was invaluable. Breakfast was great and we had a nice debate / discussion with the other guests and Denis. The rooms are cozy (try the hammock!) and we really liked the artwork all over the place. Finally, the location is perfect. There is a nice park right outside and the center of town is a short walk but far enough that it is not too loud. All I can say is if you are not satisfied with your stay here then you should just stick to the all-inclusives in Cancun!

Casa Hamaca is truly a gem. While wonderful and relaxing, it is also a hub of community activity. We had great conversation with some locals and Ex-pats. All were welcoming and happy to share their knowledge of the local area. You won't get that at a hotel. We also took advantage of the opporunity to deliver food boxes to some local Mayan households with Denis and his staff. What an enriching experience! We were able to get an inside glimpse of traditional Mayan lifestyles, while at the same time helping people in need. Denis pointed us to great food and great art, and accompanied some of our group to the market. They loved the opportunity to experience the market with a local business owner. I would also note that I came down with a terrible cold before I arrived at Casa Hamaca, and Denis and his staff took SUCH good care of me. They made me different teas to soothe my throat without my even asking. They were so genuine and kind. Thank you Casa Hamaca!

A fabulous place to stay in gorgeous Valladolid. Denis Larsen and his team make you feel very welcome. It is clean, quiet, friendly and very close to the main plaza. Take Denis's advice on where to eat and what to see, he knows the area well and is happy to share his wisdom. Highly recommended for singles, couples or families. I am already planning a return trip.

Casa Hamaca is only a few blocks from the main plaza in Valladolid but, seems miles away..You can't see it from the main street, only lush tropical vegetation and a walkway leading up to an expansive veranda and the welcoming open doors of Casa Hamaca. The house is large and sparcious and Denis, the owner, has decorated it with an "artist's eye". Mostly, local Yucatan art- wood carvings, textiles and muscial instruments and much more. My room was spacious and very comfortable, I even had my own hamaca in my room. Breakfast is served on the veranda-the food is great but, sitting around the table talking with the other guests and Denis is the best. Denis is very knowledgeable and helpful. Since I arrived by bus from Merida and planned to returned at the end of my four night stay I wanted to explore Valladolid and of course, spend a day at Chichen Itza.I was able to do all this and also had the luxury of reading on the veranda in the afternoon, either sitting in a comfortable chair or laying in a hamaca...ate three evening meals at the same place, delicious, forgot name of place but, Denis knows as he was the one who directed me there. Denis and his staff are amazing. This is a very special place. Quite, peaceful, relazing, yet alive and vibrant. probably one of the best four days I have spent in a long, long time...more than highly recommend.....
