“Four days in Paradise!!”
Reviewed 12 April 2012

As we walked into our room we both just gasped!! Talk about the 'wow' factor!! the view is breathtaking, the room lovely, comfortable and had all we could possibly need! Thank you to Caroline and Bob for their warm welcome and for being such great hosts. We are so pleased we made the trip down to Xcalak and will certainly return! Was amused by some previous comments... people concerned by the sea grass!! it is one of the most blessedly unspoilt and natural settings we have had the good fortune to visit... Steve being picked up at 7a.m. from the end of the dock for his dive was a magical moment. Snorkelling at the nearby coral head with the turtle was one of my favourite pastimes! Can't wait to go back!

Great Place with helpful and knowlegable hosts. Our trip began in Tulum, then to Lake Bacalar and finally to Xcalak. We were pleasantly suprised with the snorkling, the quiet and beautiful surroundings and even the warm muffins and fresh fruit for our morning breakfasts. We had a fantastic view of the gorgeous water from our top floor room and in the evening we ventured to the roof top for unbelievable views of the stars that we would never see back home. This is the perfect place to re-charge your batteries from the hectic grind of big city life. You can relax immediately and never want to leave. Room was immaculate, and well maintained as were the grounds. We were talking about our return trip to Casa Carolina before we even left Xcalak. The best part of this vacation was that we didn't have to listen to jet skis and instead could listen to birds sing.

What a gorgeous, well-kept paradise. Bob and Caroline are terrific folks. We wished we'd stayed longer than 3 days. The beauty of the grounds, the layout, the rooms, the view, it's all stunning. Tootsie the wonder-dog will be missed.

Getting to Xcalack was not as hard as we'd feared, although it was a big drive from Cancun. It's true that Casa Carolina is not for everyone: no AC, and a quiet, lovely simple place. Perfect for us.

Room Tip: We had upstairs, loved the view and privacy. Downstairs might be better for accessibility. You can...

It had been too many years since our last trip to Xcalak, and even longer since our last stay at Casa Carolina. The last couple of times we went to Xcalak were “last minute” trips, and Casa Carolina was already full by the time we tried to make reservations. We stayed other places, and they were fine, but they weren’t Casa Carolina. This time we planned our trip around Casa Carolina’s availability, and are very glad we did. Everything about Xcalak and Casa Carolina was as good as we rememberedmaybe even better. This funky little end of the road town doesn’t seem to have changed at all. Casa Carolina is as beautiful and comfortable as ever, and still looks brand new. Bob and Caroline are still the best hosts ever. I hadn’t tasted a Margarita as good as the ones Bob makes since the last time we were here, or a muffin as delicious as the ones Caroline makes for breakfast. It won’t be as long until the next time we’re back here.

After several visits to Playa del Carmen, Akumal and Tulum we decided to spend Christmas 2011 in Xcalak. Casa Carolina came highly recommended and Caroline and Bob could not have been better hosts!
The beachfront rooms are big with kitchenette, clean, and beautifully decorated…and the view is breathtaking!
This is the perfect place to leave everything behind you...relax at the beach, spend your day diving, or head out for a run.
Thank you again for your hospitality…we’ll be back soon!

Having just returned from my first (but certainly not last) stay at Casa Carolina, I am still in a state of advanced relaxation. Perfect hosts, perfect venue, perfect relaxation. Views are fabulous, water is welcoming, rooms are beachfront and pleasant. Secluded but not isolated, great local restaurants, superb dining at Leaky Palapa. Afternoon happy hour set the tone, crashing waves provided the music. Can't wait to get back!

Not only are Caroline and Bob perfect hosts that make you feel right at home in their beautifully maintained property, the location is also ideal. Far enough from Xcalak to be secluded, but close enough you can be there quickly on provided bicycles. Caroline and Bob have been very helpful sharing thier extensive knowlege of the area and making arrangements for diving and other activities for us. Casa Carolina has been the most relaxing place we have found in our travels. After much research into other places to stay in the area and several wonderful trips here my wife and I will keep coming back.
