love cardigan. like many guests there, I had been going to cardigan when I was a kid, and I'm now bringing my own children. kid-friendly lodge with plenty to do...swim in the pond or hike the mountain or take a less strenuous hike to the falls. service, food is great. if you want to turn the kids on to hiking, take them here. also plenty of challenging hikes with plenty of scrambling for the seasoned climber/hiker. highly recommended for anyone.

Last weekend I attended an AMC hiking weekend on Cardigan Mountain, the lodge itself was modern, neat as a pin, eco friendly, warm and contained everything anyone could need to have a fine safe adventure in the woods. The staff was very helpful. The food was bountiful, and SO good! I hope to go back again soon!

Room Tip: There are a few private rooms and the rest are bunk rooms. As you would suspect, a private room thou...

Our family - six of us - spent Saturday night October 5, 2013 at Cardigan Lodge. We completed a double peak hike on Saturday and checked into the lodge late afternoon. When we arrived, the staff was just starting to cook dinner. I could see the upcoming menu on the white board as the pies went into the oven. The food, both dinner and breakfast Sunday morning was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Their level of professionalism was evident in everything they did, including keeping the lodge very clean. The bunk rooms, bath rooms and common areas were spotless. We had a great time and would definitely recommend the lodge to all. Thanks for a great weekend.

We went overnight with a group of 5 teenage girls (for our daughter's birthday) and had a terrific time. Hikes were challenging enough, night walk exploration great for kids from the city, had fun building a fire, playing games, and eating family-style dinners. Felt like we spent a warm, relaxed, rejuvenating weekend at our own little house—albeit with like-minded strangers.

Room Tip: rooms on third floor are quieter, but staffers clear and firm on quiet time rules—which we appreciat...

My nine-year-old son and I had out third straight year's stay at Cardigan. Good selection of reading materials, lots of pretty good food, and very courteous staff. He had lots of playmates and enjoyed the pond with float right out the lodge's front door.

We heard owls hoo-hooting at night, saw moose tracks on a nine-mile day hike, and spent quality time together. I highly recommend naturalist John Lennon's outings; his knowledge "sings."

We just spent two days/nights at the lodge with three other family friends (8 adults and 10 kids ages 6-13yrs) and had a great time! The staff was wonderful, food was great and plentiful and surrounding were beautiful! The one negative was that I thought the mattresses were too hard, but I am a "sensitive sleeper" according to my husband. :)

If you are looking for a fancy luxury resort, this is not the right place for you. If you are looking for a warm, comfortable, family friendly lodge (with meals included), look no further. We just returned from three nights at Cardigan with our 5 year old, and we had one of our best vacations ever. The lodge was very comfortable, and the 2 naturalists, Kate and Kate, led family friendly adventures a few times a day, including a hike up Mt Cardigan, a trip to a beautiful waterfall, a pond study, and a nature walk. They were terrific leaders, knowledgeable about the area, and really fun. The manager, Tom, was away, but Natalie, the assistant manager, kept everything going beautifully. The croo, (Brenda, John, Owen, Ames, and Maddy), was friendly and very hospitable. There were coincidentally several families there at the same time with kids of similar ages, and we felt like we were at family camp. Kids under 12 stay free this summer, so it made our trip all the more affordable. Thanks to everyone for such a lovely time.
