We had a wonderful family ski vacation at Solitude. We stayed at the Powderhorn lodge. The condo/apt set up was fine. It was not too newly renovated but not shabby at all. The cleaning service could have done a better job with the initial cleaning since there were very obvious food crumbs about the apt and hair in the bathroom. Wifi was iffy in our unit. We had an issue with a dishwasher leak but maintenance was super quick, competent and friendly. The units are pretty insulated, too. We hardly heard any noise from the other units. The Powderhorn lodge is located in the Village area and has lockers for your skis downstairs and an underground garage. It is practically ski-in-ski-out. The resort area is beautiful and not crowded at all. They had organized events for the kids after the ski lifts closed at 4. We hired private ski instructors and they were very knowledgeable and patient. We had dinner at St. Bernard's next door and the food was delicious except for desserts. They could use work in that area. The reason we are subtracting a star is b/c customer service at the resort was hit or miss. One person would tell you one thing and another something different. We would get amazing service at ski rental at the Moonbeam base but really awful service at the ski rental store in the village even though it's all run by one company. Wish there was more positive consistency in their customer service. But overall, had a great stay. Would return again but maybe first check out all the other ski resorts in the area. There are 6 big ones all w/in an hour of each other.

The staff at the front desk is rude and not helpful at all. No one knew what was going on ever. They didn't know when the ice skating rink opened, when the smores were happening, and if you asked they acted as if you were annoying them. We booked this place for the "ski-in, ski-out" feature. There are only blue runs to this location. There are only 2 green runs on the whole mountain. We have a 4 year old and 8 year old. So, the ski in, ski out that we paid for was a waste. We had to take a shuttle to the only 2 green runs they had on the mountain. The only thing about this trip we liked was the Deer Valley chili. The rudeness of the majority of the employees there really turned us off and you couldn't pay us to go back there.

Location is great, short walk to lifts, good food options, lift tickets and rentals in building. But some of the condos are not as advertised.

We rented two condos (big family). One was great. The other had several problems, including that one of the sofa beds was broken. The staff was very nice, but since they don't own the condo they couldn't do anything. So we paid for a condo that 'sleeps six' that didn't sleep six.

Stay here at your own risk, if you get a condo the owner hasn't kept up, seems you're just plain out of luck.

This is a great place to stay. The price for ski in/out, accommodations are reasonable and there are a handful of quality restaurants to choose from if you decide not to cook. I appreciated the ski lockers on the first floor. Know they call this solitude for a reason...There is no night life, no cars in village, no stores, except for a well planned Nordic vacation center.

My daughter and I just spent 3 nights at the Powderhorn Lodge.
Very nice building with underground parking included and a large hot tub in the courtyard.
The condo itself was comfortable with a large kitchen island and comfortable living area.
Both bedrooms had private baths which was a plus.
Nice lobby with nearby lockers for skis, and literally a 5 minute walk to the lift.
Rental shop just yards away was fast and efficient. Multiple choices for dining from pizza to fine food, but we cooked in our condo to save time and cash.
Overall, a very nice experience, though quite pricey. Depending on budget next time, I might consider driving up from a valley location for a 2 - 3 day trip.

Room Tip: Ask to face the slopes - even our "partial" view of the slopes across the courtyard was lovely.
