“Good choice, but pricey”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2014

St. Benard's os one of the few restaurants at the Village area of Solitude Mt Resort. The food and service is very good, if not quite pricey. The adjoining bar is also a good place for a drink, and a quiet dinner as well.

“Every dish the best: A very pleasant surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 March 2014

At my first dinner at this cosy resort restaurant, I expected the usual over-priced, over- salted and over-done pretentious "gourmet" meal found in other similar spots. I was completely swept away by the best frites, fish and steak and hands down the best "cheeseburger" (American Kobe Beef) I have ever eaten.
The chef, new this season, supplies the best of local, organic and free range ingredients such as the Utah farm-raised steelhead trout and Niman Ranch bavette steak. All of the preparations were rich without being too fatty. Even the salad was "the best I ever had". The fresh asparagus soup made me want to lick the bowl. One flourless chocolate dessert remains in my memory in particular: not too sweet and perfect for the table to share. The service was relaxed and personal yet finely tuned.
I only wish this was my local restaurant so that I could return again and again. The menu changes so I would always be in for a very pleasant surprise!

“Great”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 February 2014 via mobile

Great room, mountain views, consistently great food, professional staff, good wine list. Expensive, but a real find for Utah. My 8th or 10th visit.

“BRILLIANT DINING!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 September 2013

This hidden gem at Solitude Ski Resort is a 5 STAR culinary experience. Its BRILLIANCE comes from all the following. The caring and not overly attentive service was perfect. There was a genuine interest from both Billy & Jeff to our every desire. The food - cocktails, golden beet salad, grilled foie gras, Kobe truffle burger, crab roll, accompanying wine and croissant/creme brulee dessert with Ariyanas Dulce 2007 wine - each item was beautifully & artistically presented & superbly cooked. And to top off all this perfection was the outdoor setting near the top of a mountain with beautiful landscaping, aspens and a fire pit for warmth. The entire experience was sublime; memorable enough to make us return again & again when we are in or anywhere near Solitude, Utah

“Fine Dining with Lodge-Casual Atmosphere (and gentle tabs)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2013

While fine for the entire family at breakfast, at dinner St. Bernard's is my idea of a perfect slope-side place for couples. High ceilings with low lighting, a wood burning fireplace, large windows with snow views, white linen tablecloths and napkins, nice flatware and stemware, good-sized tables with larger than expected chairs (in a solid, comfortable way) convince you they were doing everything they could think of to make dining here as pleasant as possible.

Food is very good... high quality ingredients, and each dish is prepared in a way that offers something special. Wine list offers several quality choices at reasonable prices. We had a special request in lieu of dessert, and they thought about it and then agreed and THEN did a superb job of it, as though it were on their menu and they'd perfected it over time (and they priced it very reasonably).

Finally, the place is never crowded (we've eaten here about 10 times in the past 3 winters and this has always been the case).

(They may not remember everything you want the minute you hope for it, but a gentle reminder always got a quick and sweet / polite response. Also, occasionally their music selection is a bit off, but they're most amenable to switching from 20-something back to 40-50-something (or more :-)) selections whenever they veer off-course.)

Every day we've ended at St. Bernard's has seemed special. Highly recommended. Nothing to criticize.
