Went on a hot day and it was spot the animal. Anyone going I would say take binoculars. The scenery was good but the animals disappointing. The cost is expensive particularly if you take your car in 62.00 pounds. Blackpool or Chester zoo if far superior and much more value for money. The only good things were plenty of seats to rest, seal ions and penguins.

“Day wasted”
Reviewed 11 July 2013

Visited on a warm July day after visiting the impressive Colchester Zoo the previous day. Whipsnade is the complete opposite, very expensive from the off. £4.00 parking fee, £20.00 to park inside the park. We were one of the first in the que but it still took an age to gain entry, payment at the booths very slow. The park covers a large area but the signage is poor and it is quite easy to wander about without seeing anything. Food and drinks very expensive in the park so if you wish to waste your day take a picnic hamper.
I am all for large enclosures for the animals but most enclosures overgrown making it impossible to see most animals. Whipsnade needs to decide if it wants to be a zoo or a safari park.
Will never return.

“Enjoyable day out!”
Reviewed 9 July 2013

Get there nice and early if its your first visit here, theres so much to cover and see. I was very impressed with the scale of this zoo ( almost like a safari). £21 adult entry and additional £4 to park your car. The animals all looked healthy and well looked after in their own big enclosures.
Don't miss The seal show they are so adorable!! Bring your own picnic, food there is not too great.

“Plenty of animals to see”
Reviewed 9 July 2013

This branch of the London Zoo is situated north of London and is where the large animals are held. With ‘600 acres of parkland’ there is plenty of space for the animals and it was good to see them roaming, or snoozing, in large spacious paddocks and enclosures. You can pay to bring your car into the zoo and drive between parking areas but we chose to walk the roads and pathways. The distances are not excessive and you are more likely to get good views of the animals.

We started with the elephants which were close to the side of their enclosure. Then the keepers led them out for a wander around the park and to graze on long grass close to us. As it was a week day there were no large crowds and the animals seemed happy to wander about their enclosures. So we got good sightings of giraffe, brown bear, zebras, lemurs, chimps and tigers. The children’s area was disappointing – a few animals, and the main attraction here seemed to be a large playground.

Overall, this was one of the nicest zoos that I have visited.

“Brilliant day out”
Reviewed 6 July 2013

This zoo is great! It's so nice to see the animals with such large enclosures and with viewing areas where you get to see the animals up close, the sea lion show was really entertaining and funny. You do have to pay £4 for parking outside and to be honest if your walking around the zoo all day you might as well pay this and walk 100m to the zoo rather than parking inside and paying £20!! I would recommend wearing comfy shoes because it is a long walk if you want to see all the animals but i would recommend this zoo rather than london/marwell.
