Can honestly say this is one of the best places we have visited with now 5 year old granddaughter - return visit after last year.
It just has everything - well kept animals in large spaces, shows, feeding times, talks, train ride farm, play areas etc.
When asked what she enjoyed the most, after a moments' thought, she replied 'All of it'.
It is quite dear, but so much to do - in fact you can't do it all in one day.
Would like to see the gift shop stay open a bit later. We learned from last year that it shuts the door at 6 when the park closes - many people are still on their way out then so miss it.

This is a really good zoo - a wide variety of animals, lots of daily activities to observe and the animals are all well cared for and have lots of space and well designed habitats. In addition Whipsnade plays a really important role in breeding conservation and wildlife work around the globe.

A visit here can easily last the whole day - we arrived at 10am and left at 6pm and all of us were entertained and interested for the entire time. In terms of activities the sealion show and the splash and stroll with the elephants were best. You can pay to take your car in but I wouldn't bother unless you have mobility difficulties- you'd miss a lot by not walking around and the distances are easily covered.

It is an expensive day out (the food and drink seems particularly steep) but you can make savings - we paid using Tesco clubcard vouchers and there are plenty of picnic tables around the site (you can walk to the car park and back to pick up your picnic stuff so you don't need to carry it around all day).

Overall this was a great day and we'd thoroughly recommend it.

It was our first time to ZSL Whipsnade and boy were we impressed!

On arrival we were glad to know that car parking was free and it was easy to find your car. On the entrance the staff on the counters were fast and efficient.

Inside the zoo it is huge, no wonder it's the Uk's biggest zoo. There are loads of well kept animals around the park.

All the facilities are superbly clean and attractions signposted around the zoo are great and much easier to find.

The deadly 60 attraction was fantastic to complete. There are 4 stations dotted around the zoo before you return to deadly HQ and get a stamp to print off your certificate online.

The elephants are amazing!! They were washed down in part of a show before taken around the zoo trunk to tail on their daily stroll.

All the shows throughout the day are great and the clarity of the sound is immense compared to other zoos.

The zookeepers are enthusiastic about their animals and are a credit to ZSL.

The sea lion show is great and they are well trained performing backflip, impressions and splashing everybody.

Overall to see what you see on the TV on 'The Zoo' is great and we would recommend it to any animal lover.

We will be back ZSL Whipsnade, thank you for a lovely day!!!

I have after visiting Whipsnade Zoo purchased an annual pass for the price of just over two family visits, but this also allows my partner myself and four children to visit this and London Zoo as many times as we like in a year. The only extra cost is if you drive around the Zoo (Whipsnade only) £10 Its a lovely day out an lots of extras like the train ride and kids area where they can interact with farm animals, would recommend this place.

I never cease to be impressed by the large paddocks available to the animals here! The rhinos and Giraffes here are particularly well housed and catered for! Whipsnade has the healthiest looking stocks of large mammals I have encountered in captivity anywhere else in the world! The size of the park is evidenced by the need to either take your car inside the Zoo or to use the Zoo internal bus service!
An extraordinary day out!
