“Nice walk, good grub.”
Reviewed 9 May 2014

I come here on a regular basis with my mum and baby boy for lunch. Foods always nice, reasonably priced and the cake is delicious!
Often walk up here with my son for a cup of tea and a slice of cake.
Can you tell? I like the cake.
The staff are always polite and the views are fabulous.

“It's ok”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

Food is a bit pricey but if you're looking for somewhere to go for a nice walk outside this is the place to go.
Cup of tea price isn't bad. I will be coming back.

“Child and dog friendly walking or cycling area!”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

A great place to cycle in safety. Two cycle routes which enables small children to cycle in safety. Good play area and cafeteria for lunch or simply coffee and cake or ice cream. Good parking. If you don't cycle you can enjoy walking round the routes and take in the views, the centre also organises holiday activities for youngsters that are well worth attending,

“Nice walk, shame about the grub”
Reviewed 4 April 2014 via mobile

Went for an invigorating stroll around the lake with my beautiful companion. Whilst I wouldn't call it particularly scenic, it is OK. The wind turbine under construction will raise your view from the industrial detritus presumably left over from the brickworks.
Ended up at the cafe. Basically don't know why I bothered. I've never had a good experience there and this was no exception. Arrived after the lunch rush at about 14:00 to be faced with staff who acted like they were reluctantly doing community service with all the graceless charm and enthusiasm they could muster, which wasn't much!
My order was assiduously written down. Instead of calculating what it was going to come to and handing the order over to the kitchen, the coffees were prepared, the order was run through the till, payment taken, in that order and then handed over to the preparation staff.
To be fair the order only took about 15 minutes to turn up. Not too bad. If it had been right and cooked properly. I'd mistakenly assumed that the tuna and cheese panini item would a) be a panini; and b) be on the verge of the cheese melting, indicating that it had been cooked properly. My beautiful companion assumed that a prawn salad sandwich on wholemeal brad would be just that and not a baton.
So enjoy the walk, take your own food.
