Review of The Crown Inn
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 17 Feb 2024
Visited the Crown Inn after seeing it on a previous visit to Old Amersham and were really pleased that we chose to stay there. Booking was simple and service on arrival and throughout was excellent. We received a complimentary room upgrade which was appreciated and the overall stay was really enjoyable. The English breakfast in the morning was really good too!
Only one item not so good and no fault of the Crown Inn or its staff - a drunken couple in the car park arguing on valentines day that woke us up. So not as much sleep as we wanted but quite entertaining!

Our first stay at this hotel, and it was overall very nice. Staff were all welcoming and helpful, the location is superb, and the hotel room itself was good.

The only (very very minor) gripe was the squeakiness of the floor (our room was in the main, old inn) which made for a lot of noise if needing to move about during the night. But otherwise the room was good, the bed very comfortable, and the shower very good.

    Would definitely stay there again.

Courtyard rooms very stylish - lovely comfy bed, really nice hot water and fluffy towels, lovely toiletries. Cosy and warm. Dinner and breakfast both exceptional (love the granola!). Good location and free parking. Unfortunately the room had a really strong musty/damp smell which was quite overpowering and difficult to get rid of after we left as it permeated our clothes and hair. I’d definitely return if they could fix that issue.

    Lovely location in town.
Bit run down in reception areas and bar. Room ok comfy bed tiny bathroom, heating difficult to regulate either hot or not. Could hear everything in/from the next door room. Restaurant closed on Mondays
Decent breakfast and safe secure parking - though accessed via narrow lane - be aware big 4x4s
    Overly expensive for a B&B

Room tip: if staying on a Monday you need to have dinner elsewhere which on a Monday is limited in town.

Our stay at The Crown, one of many old coaching inns in Amersham, exceeded our expectation, we had a lovely spacious room, very comfortable bed and the staff were amazing. Breakfast was lovely after a very comfortable nights sleep, we will be back for another stay.

Both the hotel and the bar/restaurant are lovely, but they are not the same business which feels odd. They are in the same building, but they feel really disconnected. And there is a clock that chimes the hours right by some of the bedroom windows!

Hi Nicky! We have rented out our restaurant to the lovely Hawkyns for many years - it's a brilliant Indian restaurant chain owned by Atul Kocchar. We understand it's quite a unique set up but it is very popular! We'll take on board your comments about the "disconnected" feel as that is a big shame. Thank you for taking the time to review.
