We booked for two nights on a Monday & Tuesday knowing the privately owned Indian restaurant was closed on these two days, however we received an email prior to our arrival to make sure we booked a table in the restaurant even though they knew it would be shut! Another email asked us to check in on line to comply with government restrictions with Covid, and those rules were two years ago! Very impersonal staff, reception not knowing anything about local bus routes without Googling the question. The lounge area consisted of four chairs by the entrance surrounding a fireplace with no fire. Breakfast was good but badly understaffed with the one waitress working VERY hard to keep up with orders on the Tuesday. Stair carpet cleanliness was poor. Noisy creaky bedroom with three hangers and no cupboard or hooks for coats, and no drawers for clothes. Clothes iron in room but no flat surface to iron anything. Room carpet was almost a trip hazard with the threadbare edges. Old Amersham is lovely but they need to rethink this business type guest house.

Room tip: Go to the Kings Arms further up the road.

Super location in Old Amersham. Lovely welcome and a very helpful team. Delicious breakfast, I cannot fault this historic quirky hotel. Very comfortable for a short stay. Would definitely recommend to others!!

Visited the Crown Inn after seeing it on a previous visit to Old Amersham and were really pleased that we chose to stay there. Booking was simple and service on arrival and throughout was excellent. We received a complimentary room upgrade which was appreciated and the overall stay was really enjoyable. The English breakfast in the morning was really good too!
Only one item not so good and no fault of the Crown Inn or its staff - a drunken couple in the car park arguing on valentines day that woke us up. So not as much sleep as we wanted but quite entertaining!

Our first stay at this hotel, and it was overall very nice. Staff were all welcoming and helpful, the location is superb, and the hotel room itself was good.

The only (very very minor) gripe was the squeakiness of the floor (our room was in the main, old inn) which made for a lot of noise if needing to move about during the night. But otherwise the room was good, the bed very comfortable, and the shower very good.

Would definitely stay there again.

Courtyard rooms very stylish - lovely comfy bed, really nice hot water and fluffy towels, lovely toiletries. Cosy and warm. Dinner and breakfast both exceptional (love the granola!). Good location and free parking. Unfortunately the room had a really strong musty/damp smell which was quite overpowering and difficult to get rid of after we left as it permeated our clothes and hair. I’d definitely return if they could fix that issue.
