“Penn Street Beer Festival”

I visited for the first time due to the beer festival.

Really lovely village pub with friendly service – very family friendly.

Burgers were served quickly – hot and delicious.

“Great pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2014 via mobile

Came here on a rainy Thursday evening and sat outside on the nice covered deck, which is a great idea.

Food choice was good, with good pub food and some more intricate choices. Service was great, really friendly.

Food was really tasty, I'd recommend the scotch egg starter! In fact, I'd recommend everything.

Only thing losing it points was all the baby stuff being stored outside in the deck, which looked untidy, and the beer garden was all untidy and disorganised. Pretty minor stuff really but as we were sat outside it was really noticeable.

I'll definitely be going back.

“Not very good today”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014 via mobile

Squirrel fell out of its tree tonight - understaffed on a sunny Friday night when the cricket is on?? Poor service, long wait and food very average vs usual standard. No cutlery, dirty glasses everywhere, couldn't even get a second drink to have with our meal as staff wouldn't bring drinks to the table.

“Lovely local pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 June 2014

Nice local pub, thankfully not part of a large chain. Lovely sunny day when we arrived at 1200n, but a bit disappointed to find all the outside tables were reserved. One did become free though and our food was served after a bit of a wait. Sadly we just missed the last beef pie, but other than that the burgers and fish were great, and the children's meals especially good.

They might want to consider getting some new tables for the garden as the current ones are showing their age a bit. Looking forward to their beer fest in July.

“Brilliant pub and great food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 February 2014

We pass many pubs to visit The Squirrel, as it's the best pub in the area.
The pub is comfy and cosy with great open fires in the winter and an amazing outside deck area for the summer.

It is run by very welcoming staff and we have always had very good service. The pub serves local ales which are very good and really fresh and tasty pub food.

The menu is small, but has lots of choice and provides a good choice for both vegetarians and meat eaters alike.
Our food is always fresh and tasty.

I would highly recommend this lovely pub.
