I've stayed at this place two or three times in the past year (on business) and I like it.
OK, there is no restaurant, but just a short stroll down the very attractive street are a couple of excellent places to eat - I recommend the littel Indian place just around the corner.
The hotel rooms are well appointed and modern and, overall, I think you get the feeling that they have not tried to cut every last penny of cost, like some UK hotel chains.
Pricewise, at £120 B&B, it's on the high side, but so far I've not been disappointed.

This is the 2nd time we have visited the hotel, and this time came back for a birthday treat, as it was so great on our last visit.
Once again we had a fab time. The staff were friendly and even remembered us from before so we got a room upgrade. All the log fires were lite in the bar & reception, and it made it so cosy & welcoming.
Once again I highly recommend the hotel.

We went for the May bank holiday weekend - it looked gorgeous on the website and although the room was pretty tiny it had been nicely refurbished.
We were above the pub - which is a risk you take with staying in an old Inn, but it was very noisy until about 1 in the morning - lots of street shouting. The real problems started on the first morning - the shower had no hot water so we made do with the shampoo spray in the bath and hurtled down to breakfast - a good 25 minutes ahead of finish time. At reception we mentioned the shower, said we would be out for the day and the receptionist said someone would look at it. At breakfast - we sat at our table for 15 minutes waiting for someone to take a hot order and eventually had to call over a waitress. Her response - to look at her watch - sigh dramatically and tut! I then pointed out we had been down well before finishing time. Fairly surly service ensued.
The following morning the shower was still failing to offer hot water. We'd had no message from reception as to whether the problem had been looked at or not. On check out I therefore decided to mention it to the girl checking us out - the exact conversation was : Me: "We did mention that the shower has no hot water and someone was going to look at it - it's still not working so maybe you need to look at it again?" Her: "Oh." ....No apology - just abject indifference. This place costs far too much to merit being grunted and tutted at by badly mannered staff - we went home early. Amersham Old Town is beautiful but stay somewhere else.

Nice room, but very small and only one tiny window with no view. In a characterless annexe - maybe the rooms in the old building are better. Bathroom well fitted but step back from the sink and you were in the toilet. Great for one person for one night but could be claustrophobic for two people and/or nights.
Just one warning, should you like to relax in your own hotel - there is no food in the evening, not even in the bar. Plenty of places in strolling distance, however.

I had a very pleasant and comfortable stay in this hotel while on business - I was allocated a newer double room outwith the main building which had recently been refurbished to a very high, modern and attractive standard. The room and bath/shower room were immaculately maintained and all the basics were provided i.e. internet access, telephone, hair dryer, iron & ironing board (cleverly stored in the double wardrobe) and tea & coffee. Security access exists throughout. A well presented and cooked breakfast is served in the 'olde world', main reception building and I found the staff there to be very pleasant and eager to help. From my experience I'd say information and photographs published on the web site are accurate and I would recommend this hotel to everyone :o)

  • Liked — The room as very comfortable, clean and pleasantly furbished.
  • Disliked — I would have liked the opportunity to dine within the hotel however this facility does not exist.

We have just returned from a one night stay at his hotel we booked a luxury suite with four poster bed and jacuzzi bath. After reading a review on this hotel we were worried that it would be a dissapointment, but thankfully this was not the case. The hotel is very nicely refurbished to a very high standard and we were impressed. The room we stayed in was perfect and the open plan bathroom with body shower and jacuzzi bath was brilliant, the lighting in the room was good as spotlights in various places picked out the lovely timber beams on the ceiling, also the bed was comfortable and well dressed with loads of cushions and fur throws. It was clean and and well equipped, we have paid similar prices for rooms before and they have been no where near as good as this, the old town of amersham is a lovely place and coming back to this hotel after a nice meal makes it all the more worthwile, it did seem very quiet at the hotel but we put that down to the time of year but the bar adjoining the hotel was very busy. The breakfast we had in the lovely dining room was great and the service we received was good, we would reccomend this hotel to anyone and will stay there again as we liked it so much.

  • Liked — The room we stayed in and the lovely old town of amersham
  • Disliked — nothing really
  • Tips/Secrets — drinks are very expensive in the hotel down the road £6.40 for a pimms and lemonade what a rip off
