This is a review of the restaurant where my wife and I had a special occasion meal on Saturday March 1st 2014. We were not residents.
The Kings Arms needs to remind itself the meaning of the the word 'discretionary' as it applies to their service charge. My Oxford dictionary tells me; 'liberty of deciding as one sees fit'. Their service charge is actually compulsory, the very opposite; no choice, its added automatically. To add insult to injury the bill also leaves in addition a clear space labelled TIP. You'd have thought such a well established, even historic inn such as this would have got that right by now. Rant over... what about the food.
The main courses were both tepid and the prawn starter straight out of the fridge. No complaints about the food quality, presentation, nor of the service. But they do need to get a few basics right before they deserve 5*s if they are charging top dollar.More
