The Villiers is a quaint hotel in the centre of this market town. It has a very good restaurant and its own pub which is very busy on a Saturday evening.

The executive rooms are large with a good sized, if slightly bland, bathroom.

The rooms have all the amenities you would expect and large comfortable beds.

The hotel is a bit of a maze with the rooms arranged around a circular pattern and would not be very suitable for those with disabilities.

The wireless was only available in the public areas and not the rooms.

My son had his wedding reception at this hotel and along with a number of other guests we stayed the night. I cannot speak too highly of the quality of the food and the service we were given. The bedrooms were spacious and tastefully decorated. My 12 year old grandson was really impressed and said he would like to live there!

My wife, daughter and myself stayed at the Villiers in April - got a fantastic rate and an upgrade to an Executive room. Faultless service and food, very quaint - highly recommended...

Near Stowe school and the other wonderful sights of this part of the country, Villiers has very pleasant staff who appear to mostly be French. Our room was a superior double and £165.00 for one night. Awfully expensive we thought. It was nice, but some things bothered me. There was no turndown service in the evening, so if you had had a cup of tea and biscuits or indeed a shower before going out you came back to it all after dinner. There were no extra blakets or pillows despite ther being loads of storage space and the one blanket on the bed was very thin. The bed cover, heavy and matching the curtains was stained on the inside, YUK . I cannot understand why hotels go on using these, they are so obciously not cleaned after each guest so one can only imagine!! There was no TV guide, no milk in the fridge, no extractor in the bathroom and the heated towel rail did not work. In addition, there was a bit of plastic duct tape over one of the bathroom light switches, not very attractive!

Breakfast was served in Henry's restaurant. Nicely laid tables, but the grapefruit was tinned, as were the mushrooms! and there were only those horrid, thick, posh paper napkins which don't absorb anything. Coffee was served from a pot by a waitress into a small cup so my husband was constantly looking for someone to refill it. In all this hotel does not give value for money but a few extra touches would have made it a much nicer experience.

5  Thank Farnese
