“great weekend treat!!!”
Reviewed 6 February 2012

I booked this hotel as a treat for my sister for her birthday and i am so glad that i did, because from the time we arrived until we left we were very well looked after.
We were greeted by Mark the reception manager who was so friendly and made us feel so welcome i had booked garden rooms but Mark had upgraded my sister to a suite for her birthday which was very nice she loved her room overlooking the lake and gardens.I also requested a card which they had done and left in her room. The food and service in the restaurant was very good and we paid for a cake which was beautifully made by the chef.I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel we were treated so well and had a lovely stay.,A special mention to mohammed on reception who was very friendly and printed off a map for us to travel home nothing was too much trouble for him.

Room Tip: my sister had the cheltnam suite overlooks the lake

Stayed in the Queen Anne suite and it was amazing. Wonderful grounds, gorgeous room with views across the grounds and excellent decor, good mix of cosy old leather sofas and contemporary styling. The perfect venue for my friend and I to get tipsy on champagne and pretend we were in Sex and the City
My only criticism (and it's really small) is that there wasn't a kettle in the room- so no cup of tea in bed for me. I made the most of the deep bath instead!
Breakfast was excellent too, though my mate's a veggie and she didn't have many tasty options. Carnivores like me, won't be disappointed though.

Room Tip: If you can, book a room with a view of the grounds, they're gorgeous

Stayed at Stoke place as part of their special deal. Dinner bed and breakfast included. Upon arrival to hotel we wasn't disappointed. Service fantastic. Even bordering OTT however hotel and rooms
Accommodation very good. Only observations were no bath in the room and facilities limited. Food on the restaurant was superb although the 'discretionary' service charge added could cause issues with some customers. That said all in all a good hotel. No complaints!

Where do we start? We always had a soft spot for Stoke Place hotel. We stayed there for our one year anniversary back in May 2010 and we introduced our parents to one another there last Summer, so we always knew it would be the venue for our wedding.

The hotel and its grounds are truly beautiful and makes for a stunning wedding venue. We had our wedding ceremony and breakfast in the Ballroom and it looked absolutely amazing on the day. So many of our guests commented on what a wonderful venue it is.

The Operations Team and waiting staff were fantastic. They were extremely efficient and professional, and at the same time very friendly and welcoming. Our guests were full of praise for the staff from start to finish. The Wedding Planner, Michelle, was also fantasic to work with and nothing was too much of a problem.

The food was without fault. Our guests could not get over the quality of the food for such a large wedding (we had 115 people at the wedding breakfast). The soup was hot, the chicken was succulent and the creme brulee just perfect. We were very impressed with the evening buffet too. We chose cheese and bacon butties which went within minutes, and cheese and fruit platters which were presented beautifully.

The majority of our guests stayed over and were all impressed with their rooms, which are all designed to a very high standard. The hotel provided a private breakfast for our guests in the morning in a room which looked out over the grounds which was lovely, and again the staff were fantastic.

The only criticism we have is that the hotel only has a license until midnight Sunday to Thursday and 1am on Fridays and Saturdays which meant our guests that were staying over could not move through into the bar for more drinks after the disco had finished.

Stoke Place is certainly not cheap, but you really do get a high quality service.

We'd recommend Stoke Place for a meal out, a weekend away and as a wedding venue.

We hope you love it as much as we do.

Room Tip: The Queen Ann Suite is stunning!

I booked a one night stay at Stoke Place to get some peace and quiet from the hustle and the bustle of the busy Xmas period, Well I certainly was not disappointed! The place is simply beautiful and on every metric delivers quality.

The reception staff were lovely and welcoming, the type of relaxed yet professional welcome that makes you immediately feel at ease.
The room was beautiful, elegantly decorated with an amazing big bath and the biggest four poster bed.

The highlight of the stay must have been dinner, the service was slick and professional, our waiter had a good knowledge of both the wine we chose and the menu.
The food was out of this world, I really am struggling to put down in words how good it was. in a word - superb

I can not endorse this hotel enough, it is very rare people get things spot on and these guys certainly have.

Room Tip: Try the restaurant even if not staying there, best food I have tasted in the UK

We went there with the family last boxing day and pretty much had the place to ourselves. It was great to be able to run around a hotel with the freedom of not disturbing anyone else, especially with the kids in tow. We were there for two nights and the staff could not have been more accommodating. A great setting and the grounds were lovely to wander around. My only grumble was that the love a bit of heating. If you like your hotel warm and stuffy then this is the place for you. If you're a thermostat off, t-shirt wearing kind of person then I would avoid or just go in the summer!

Dear Member,

I would like to thank you for your post regarding your experience at Stoke Place.

I was very happy to read that you enjoyed your stay and that you were able to relax and feel at home in our Country house. Regarding your comments on the temperature of the house, I am sure you can appreciate the challenges a building over 300 years old can present, but we have recently had new air-conditioning units added to the top floor of our hotel, and have also recently recharged all the existing units.

In addition to this we have also completed a brand-new development of ten garden bedrooms overlooking our stunning vegetable garden which are all temperature controlled from within with thermo-controlled units.

I appreciate your feedback and I hope to welcome you back to Stoke Place in the near future.
